El Gallo Giro — Restaurant in Memphis

Its tasty and cheap Mexican. I especially like the Montezuma's Revenge, with sides of Noro Virus topped with Salmonella and perfectly seasoned with floor spices.

I used to eat there once a week due to is proximity to my work on the weekends. Then one day back in January, I got the fajita chicken salad and it tasted off. I spent the next day and night in the hospital puking my guts out and was diagnosed with having contracted the Noro Virus and acute food poisoning. I have done what I can to avoid this place since. Yesterday I was at a party that had used Gallo Giro to cater food. I was unaware until I had already ingested some. Now today I am suffering from Montezuma's Revenge and feel like crap.

If you are confused by the 3 stars even after all the bad, it is due to the fact they were good. I don't know if they just stopped cleaning or cooking food 100% or what, but now if I were you, I would avoid this place like the plague. Or have an Iron stomach. To put it into perspective, I would rather eat Taco Bell than Gallo Giro simply because I know the next day I will not be spending my day...

Like most Americans I've had Mexican food for most of my life, traditional style as well as tex-mex style Mexican. This is one of the least impressive places I've ever eaten. I've had a few of their offerings at this point and none of them are what I would consider to be great, or even worth the price. The portions are often inconsistent, sometimes my side of rice and beans will be whatever fits in a to go container, other times it's an entire plate, quality is inconsistent as well, you just really never know what you're going to get, but even when it's on the better side, I wouldn't call it good. The service if you come to sit down isn't bad, but if you take an order to go is a different story. You'd better check because 100% of the time I've been shorted something that I paid for and had to wait while it was sorted out. I wouldn't chose to eat here on my own, and only occasionally patronize this place because some friends enjoy it but I've chosen to just eat elsewhere for...

Dinner very subpar. Had high expectations from the reviews. Placed a togo order. Got the steak and bacon tacos..not a lime in sight. Ordered the guac salad...same thing not a single lime in sight! No cilantro and onions on the tacos;nor was I asked if I did or didnt want cilantro and onions...Not a Single LIME ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND. Also asked for the pepper, onion, radish, carrot mix with vinegar and it didnt make my bag.I asked the guy twice to make sure and he said it was in there. Guess they took a look at my skin and said NOPE she wouldnt like limes. Even tho a few ppl that came in had it brought out to their table no problem with a big plate of the pepper radish mix. Thought it would be my go to spot oh well on...
