Johnnie Mae’s Soul Cafe — Restaurant in Memphis

My recent visit to Johnnie Mae’s Soul Cafe was an absolute delight.

From the moment we arrived, we received exceptional service, complete with a warm and friendly welcome.

The restaurant’s decor was bright, lively, and beautifully decorated, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Our server was a sweetheart, attentive to our every need.

Each dish was delivered to our table fresh and hot. I was so eager to eat that I forgot to take pictures of my food.

We started with the Lemon Pepper wings, which were followed by the fried catfish, green beans, cabbage, and Mac and cheese, all of which were outstanding.

The quality of the food was consistent, with each dish fresh, hot, and seasoned to perfection.

I had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, Derrick Craig, who was warm and welcoming, taking the time to interact with all the customers and thank them for their business.

Located in the heart of South Memphis, Johnnie Mae’s is definitely worth a visit.

Some friends and I visited Johnnie Maes for lunch after church 2weeks after opening. It was not the greatest experience. I did not post about it, waited to see if anyone else had negative review. Most of the reviews say "amazing, wonderful, friendly staff, great atmosphere". It's as though we didn't eat in the same place. We were greeted outside on the way in, but treated as though we were invisible after we couldn't eat the food and made a complaint. We waited a good while before getting our order,then it was inedible. Wanted to give them a chance because they were new.... But the atmosphere changed when we made the complaint.I won't get into all the details, but a message was sent to us that our ticket was taken care of.... My husband and I was searching for somewhere to eat after 2 other establishments let us down. I was super hungry! I heard of this place and when we passed it I told my husband to go back. That was the Greatest "Go Back" ever. Great Atmosphere! Great Customer Service! Even Greater Food! Greeted as soon as we walked in by the owner! Served immediately by a welcoming and sweet server!
