Wicker Basket Deli — Restaurant in Mendham

been going to wicker for 20 years, it’s a classic spot with phenomenal food. i was so stunned to walk in yesterday to find the most egregious and ugly mural painted on the wall that originally had a charming wicker basket/sandwich decal and the classic menus. not to mention, there was horrific pop country music blasting over the speakers. what once was a charming NJ deli has now turned into a fight to be hip and different to set apart the new owners from the original owners. so disappointed that the atmosphere is entirely different in a negative way that i felt compelled to leave a review. wicker was never broke - why did you feel the need to ‘fix’ it? such a shame. at least the food still tastes relatively the same as that would be the only thing to have me come back. you might as well go to the angry egg if you want the original wicker feel with the original owners. this pains me to write a poor review for arguably my favorite deli in all of...

We were waiting outside at 3 becuase we knew it closes at 3:30, but the door got locked in our faces and we were waiting outside knocking just to figure out what was going on for 10 minutes while the staff were staring at us for that entire time not even having the human decency to come outside and tell us they were closed EARLY keep that in mind. Also, people were still ordering inside while we were waiting in the rain just trying to figure out what was happening. And when they finally came out we were met with some of the worst attitude I have ever experienced. I have lived in Mendham all my life and patronized this deli. Food is passable but they get their "to go" orders wrong more than they get them right. My last count, 3 times in a row and you are long gone when you discover they didn't get it right again. Also, the people that work the counter act as though they are doing you the biggest of favors by taking your order and then your money. Rude, surly and indifferent because they can be. TIP - Go next door to the Kings Supermarket. Their cold cuts are super fresh and they will make any sandwich you want for less money. They also appreciate your business.
