Freckles Kitchen & Tavern — Restaurant in Mentone

Freckles Kitchen and Tavern is well worth making the trip to this sleepy little hamlet known as Mentone. The quality of their food alone sets this restaurant apart from others in this area. Everything is fresh and made in-house or from high quality suppliers. Even the breads for their sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs come from Wheat Montana, a high-end grain co-op in the Midwest. Everything is well above what you would expect in quality. They make their dishes fresh. My wife had a ham and swiss on rye with the side salad with blue cheese dressing. The dressing is handmade in house as are the croutons. I had a cheeseburger and fries. The burger is ground fresh from high quality meat. The bun is fresh and soft, and it doesn't fall apart even though the beef is juicy with an excellent taste. The fries are hand cut from fresh potatoes. To start, the staff here is amazing. They're incredibly attentive and pay attention to detail. Our waitress was wonderful to my wife and I, our friends and our 2 infants. She was patient with us and loved answering any questions we had. The chef even came out to speak with us as well because we had a question out of curiosity because the food here was so good!. Now the food, WOW! The food was delicious! You can tell that their chef cares about the quality of the ingredients used and he does not skip any step in preparing the food.

We will definitely be returning with hungry stomachs ready for great food and great interactions with the staff of Freckles...

I was hearing good things about Freckles and I finally tried it for myself. I was not disappointed. The food was delicious!! I had the carnitas taco and the brisket taco. Both were really flavorful even without the salsa/sauce. I was glad I asked for the sauce on the side because it was a little spicy for my taste. I also had the bread pudding which was excellent. The server was helpful and attentive. It feels a little price for tacos but the quality and the portion of the food justifies the price for me. They do have lunch specials and I will definitely look more closely at those next time I stop by. The food as Freckles is crave-able so I'm sure...
