Our experience at the China Buffet on Friday, November 3, 2017, was horrible. Our family has been going here for over 10 years, saw it go through 2 management changes and never been disrespected and treated the way we were Friday night. We had a party of 14 adults and 5 children with family from Texas, Akron, OH and PA. It started out good, but when our family from Akron came in with 4 of the adults and four of the children, my daughter-in-law informed the hostess, Nancy, (who had on the green mini skirt wuth black boots) at the cashier's desk that she had 4 children with her and gave her their ages. After my daughter-in-law started eating Nancy came back over and told her that she had only added the 4 adults to their ticket and had not counted the four children. My daughter-in-law told her okay. Nancy said something that my daughter-in-law did not understand and she said pardon me. At this point Nancy started yelling at her so my daughter-in-law told her please do not tell at me and turned to continue the conversation she was in. Nancy then took her pen and tapped her on her shoulder. Nancy had no business touching my dauuggter-in-law at all when it was already established that the children had not been added. After most of us had already eaten, one of my sister's and two nieces went outside to smoke. Nancy asked them in a real nasty tone, 'where are you going?' They told her to smoke. She came back to our table lurking and looking...my sister had left her check on the table with her money; my nieces were each on checks with their mothers. The final draw was when we all went up to pay. My brother had let Nancy know that He was going to the restroom. After everyone else had paid, she started yelling that 2 people did not pay and got so loud to the point that other customers in the restaurant started looking. We were trying to see what she was talking about. At that point, my brother came out of the restroom to pay his check. She then goes back to our table comes back smiling to say thank you. Not only was the gratuity added to our checks for such a large party, but we left an additional tip on the table. With the meals eaten there, one take-out order, the drinks and the gratuity, we spent well over $200. There was always someone from our family eating at the China Buffet on a weekly basis, but needless to say after our treatment there on November 3, 2017, we will NOT be going back there ever again and will be letting other family members and friends know. Nancy really needs to learn good customer service is. There are too many other Chinese Buffets in the area for me to...
Read moreWhat I think was the manager was pretty rude, I believe she was on the phone using an ear bud. She spoke in what I assume is Chinese quietly the entire time we were at the register. (Which the language isn’t an issue, but I think talking on the phone while servicing people is rude.) There was another woman there who was very sweet, every interaction I had with her and saw her have with customers seemed positive. They had us using styrofoam plates and plastic silverware, which is not only incredibly wasteful but makes for an odd experience. The forks were not strong enough to pierce some of the food. My boyfriend mentioned he kind of liked it because he knew for a fact they were sanitary. That’s one way to look at it. I think they had a decent selection of food, but some stuff was definitely sitting out for a bit. Which I’m not sure is exactly their fault, I mean they probably just fill things as they see them empty. The fruit they had was pretty good. Fruit is my favorite food and I’m kind of critical about it. But of course nobody is there for their fruit. Otherwise their food in general was pretty good, my boyfriend liked it. However he had a horrible stomachache afterwords and threw up the next day. He ate the whole shrimp they served, and I had none of the shrimp or seafood they served, so we wonder if it was that. I’ve had a hard time finding Chinese buffets post covid, so we tried this one out. My bf said he’d go back again, but I think next time I’ll suggest we try a new place. I was fine with the food but the attitude of the manager was just uncomfortable, I really dislike when people are rude to customers who are not rude. There are a hole customers and I would excuse attitude then tbh, but I saw nobody being a problem yet she was rude...
Read moreGreat place for cheap chinese buffet. Lunch is 5.99 and dinner is 7.99. Drinks are extra. Plus tax. No pressure to order more than water. The tea is HOT and STRONG but the waitresses only give you free pot refills on request.
They have a room you can use if you have over 10 people joining you. But expect to get charged for the meals of the folks if you have less than that.
Ice cream is overly frozen and desserts are cardboard. If you want to choose, go with the ice cream. I tend to get watermelon or other fresh fruit. Or a chinese donut. Just don't expect an american donut. Chinese donuts are basically dough rolled in sugar.
The sushi is acceptable. They have started offering coconut chicken. The beef wellington is more onions than anything else with a hefty dose of peppery steak. They have roast beef you can cut yourself, then grab a steak knife in the bowl next to it because you will need it. The pot stickers are too rubbery for me. The breaded shrimp looks like it was frozen 5 minutes ago and you need to go all the way to the condiments table to get shrimp sauce. The crab ragoon is acceptable if you avoid the hard bits.
I gave them a 3 because I don't mind 50% of the food. I am just always getting the same...
