Spanky's Hideaway — Restaurant in Mequon

I really wanted to make this my every other week place! They have top 3 wings in the greater Milwaukee area and the best onion rings I have ever had. The prices are reasonable and the kitchen puts out above average food.

Why the one star? They have one waitress that is always there... but not always present. All 3 times she waited on me and my better half. The first time she was drunk (and to be honest, funny). She forgot our drinks and said it was because she was drunk! She messed up on the order on the other two visits... delivering the wrong flavor of wings on our 2nd and 3rd visit, forgot one of the drinks completely, , and forgot to order/bring a part of the order on the last visit. The last time she was truly mean and made us feel like we were inconveinencing her. She made my better half feel so uncomfortable that she left to go sit in the car while I paid the bill. I always tipped her about 30% in hopes to maybe get her best on a future visit.

I really like the food and so with the nicer weather I thought we could try a 4rth time and get help from the bar instead. Hoping to sit outside and avoid her altogether, I nicely explained to the bartender that I had bad experiences in the past and asked if he could take my order and I would sit outside and come back in to pick up the food. He seemed stressed and said that he would but preferred not to. I waited patiently as he spent the next 10 minutes attending to other things and called me to the side of the bar to take my order, which I began to give him. The waitress walked up behind me and the bartender said outloud, "you have to work things out with her".. and looked to the waitress and said, "he doesn't like you or something." I looked at the bartender in disbelief and told him that I have never been treated so unprofessionally and had no option but to walk out. As I walked away I could hear him speaking negatively about me.

To put me in such an awkward and horrible situation is absolutely unacceptable! There is an apparent lack of understanding of service standards and proper protocol.

This has to reflect the current ideology of the management and ownership. If the employees feel that they can behave in this manner without consequences, then I highly doubt anyone in the chain of command cares at all.

How can I rate...

I have been is this estabishment in the past . There food is very good. There French Onion Soup is the best in the city, without question.

So, tonight (Friday) I felt like a fish fry. I ordered the pan fryed perch, with the potato pancakes, and the clam chowder shop.. ALL WERE OUTSTANDING.

I spoke with the owner, she was so klnd (very personal)

My big disapointment was I sat at the bar..BIG MISTAKE!

Lisa was extremly rude. HOW RUDE! When I asked her a question she was so rude the man next to me said "Holy Shit"! "What was that all about"! Well pardon the hell out of me for asking a question.

In all of the bad reviews I have read for this place, it is of no coincidence that most (not all) begin and end the the rudeness of the bartender.

The restaurant business is one of the hardest business to be sucsessful at.

Beer is beer, no matter where one goes. Capt. Morgan is Capt. Morgan no matter where you go. but the food has to be consistent. Spankys does this hands down.

However, when the Bartender has the personality of an astray and looks miseralble in her job, she should not be there.

Looks like a nice place, food looks great. I waited patiently for a carry out order. Lady that was standing at a terminal by the bar and was entering orders, was so rude to me. I never bothered her, I just waited for my food. After awhile she said to me, I can't find your order, then oh wait, there it is. Then she says, it's not ready. That's all she said. I didn't ask how long, again I just waited. When my order did come up I asked if I could verify what's in the bag. She said yeah, it's all there. I asked, can I just verify with you so I know everything is there. She snapped, it's all there, and then threw my credit card receipt down and said leave me the signed one, dropped a pen on the table and walked away. I was appalled at that service! I never bothered anyone, I could see it was busy, I just patiently waited for over half an hour and then I get treated like that. I will never ever come back here or recommend it to anyone.
