Frosty Queen Express #3 — Restaurant in Merced

I recently visited Five Star Burger and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their burgers. The pricing is fair and reasonable, and the menu selection is great with a variety of options to choose from. The staff was friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in.

The burgers were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the veggie burger and I loved that it was an option, unlike at many other burger places. The fries are soft but I do wish there was an option for crunchier fries and the onion rings with ranch are too notch. However, I do wish they were a tad less heavy-handed with the red onions on the burgers as my fiance and I both had to remove about half the red onions they put on our burgers.

The only qualm I have with this restaurant is its location; it's in a bit of a sketchy area. The food and staff are great and the building is cute but the restaurant could benefit from a bit more TLC. Perhaps some new outdoor lights, additional tables, fresh paint, and improved safety in the area - this could really help to elevate the overall experience. I, unfortunately, saw a man toss his cup out the window from this restaurant into the parking lot before driving off and it breaks my heart because this little burger joint deserves better than that.

Clean and fairly spacious establishment. You can seat and eat outside or inside. There is plenty of parking. Staff is kind and knows how to efficiently bring out orders.

They have a variety of food and drinks like hotdogs, burgers, Phillys, wraps and milkshakes. This time I ordered their spicy chicken sandwich, a fruity pebbles milkshake and a side of curly fries. The chicken sandwich delivered. The chicken patty has good flavor and was a good level of spicy. The curly fries were pretty good. They were nice and crispy on the outside. They tasted even better when I dipped them in some ranch. The milkshake was good, but I didn’t really taste the fruity pebbles. It was a good, thick milkshake though.

I also got to try their Star Bacon Burger. It had amazing presentation, and the Pattie’s had great flavor. The cheese and the bacon elevated the burger.

In the past I have also tried their Jalapeño Burger, which is fire! I recommend you try that one of you like jalapeños. This burger reminded me of the bbq’s we had growing up with the family on a Sunday in the summer....

We ordered 2 hamburgers without pickles and wala, here are pickles. The hamburger is a good hamburger the staff is rude, unbelievable and uncooperative. The rude girl who answers the phone, have dealt with before, and the cook insists they did not put pickles on our hamburgers, which I am allergic to. Gee whats in this picture? PICKLES! They told us we would have to get the door dasher back but once I picked the hamburger up from my porch and brought it to the kitchen and opened the hamburger, that door dasher is long gone. NOT his fault. I can't go down by myself which is why I used doordash. They did not offer a replacement, they would not allow me to have the manager's name. Totally and completely wrong on so many different levels. We still eat there, or order there, we try to give a bad place a second, and sometimes third try.
