Papa Joe's Café — Restaurant in Mercedes

The service was extremely slow yet there weren't many people at all. The server took more than 10 minutes to even acknowledge that we were there. Every time we asked for something she would take about 5 minutes to get back, I asked for a refill on my tea and she was I'll be back, she left and passed by a few times and never got my refill. We had to stop her just to remind her about the refill. Then asked for foil paper to have a taco to go and it took her 5 minutes of walking around the restaurant doing absolutely nothing to bring the foil. Joe the owner was there but wasn't paying attention that the waitress was just walking around doing nothing and not doing her job. The odd part was we ordered what should've been like $20 of food and somehow it was almost $30, 🤔 my plate was $8.99 plus 2 tacos a coke and a sweet tea. Idk how the price...

First time dining in after previously only ordering takeout. It was a Monday morning and the place wasn’t busy at all, yet service was painfully slow. We were basically ignored that I had to get up and ask for assistance.

The entire place smelled like backed-up sewage, which was overpowering and extremely off-putting. The tables were sticky, the air felt warm, muggy with poor ventilation, and the food came out cold and bland.

Our waitress was inattentive and unhelpful, but thankfully another waitress who wasn’t even assigned to our table stepped in to assist us. That small act was appreciated in an otherwise a very disappointing first time experience.

Sadly, this first dine-in visit left a bad impression. I don’t plan on eating in again, though I’ll probably still order takeout from...

Poor hospitality, I've been there acouple of time to give the them a chance to be able to go again. But. They took to long and i understand that its home cooked but they brought out orders all separate in different times and it was just 4 people eating. Was trying to flag down the waitress, everytime I went and they would ignore us. I understand thier busy but they did this to us a couple of times we've gone.
