Yuzen Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in Mercer Island

I use to go to this place a lot but lately the service has gone down hill.

Today my wife ordered a DoorDash order for pick up, and added a couple of items to her order. When I showed up, they refused to give me the extra items and insisted that they didn’t even have “crispy onions/shallots”.

Either that’s a blatant lie or a huge indication of their decline in quality.

Also they left out the sauce that was suppose to come with the shrimp tempura.

Never order take out from here! You’ve been warned.

Than they try to insult me like I can’t afford extra for avocado? Like everybody didn’t see me roll up in my Mercedes and that I live on Mercer island. I would have happily paid extra but the staff was very rude and unhelpful.

Edit: Would have gladly paid extra for Avacados of the rude counter lady hadn’t just tried to usher me out of the restaurant and if the shrimp did have the sauce on it, it was very dry and scant much less than sit down.

You say I’m lying? I think your rude staff is covering for itself. As a business owner you should own up to the fact that you don’t have any methods for those ordering out to add sides like avocado. I bought one for my wife across the street, a whole avocado is...

I have been going to this place for years and am never disappointed. The staff is incredibly sweet and they make food like no other Japanese restaurant that I have attended. You can't eat there without trying their side salad with house-made dressing–AMAZING! This is one of my staple restaurants for dine-in or take-out. I have nothing bad to say about the Yuzen restaurant and hope they continue to share their gifts and positive atmosphere with us for many years to come. They are so welcoming, accommodating, and friendly! Such creative and delicious dishes, and staff that are equally sweet and kind like family! I always have a big smile when eating at Yuzen. Keep up the good work!

We ordered yaki udon and 2 sushi rolls. The golden california roll was inedible due to falling apart when picked up and a sharp bitter taste from the crab(perhaps spoiling). The Kari kari roll was ok due to being mostly cream cheese and tempura but the salmon within it was unnoticeable. Finally, the yaki udon was terrible. It looked like a frozen meal and had the blandness to match. It lacked any flavor or vibrancy to be expected of the dish. When I shared this assessment it was brushed off as this is a "traditional" yaki udon. Traditional is not a catch all to excuse poorly prepared food. Would not recommend if you are in search of a...
