Rocco's Village Bakery — Restaurant in Meriden

We love Rocco's! My husband and I live walking distance from the bakery, so when we are craving something yummy we can just walk down. The bakery itself is tiny and can be very crowded at times. The prices are reasonable and everything is absolutely divine. I personally love the fruit pockets (guava is the best!) and chocolate chip cookies, while my husband loves the chocolate brownies. The stuffed bread is phenomenal and the assorted cookies are super satisfying. I also occasionally get a loaf of bread which lasts me a full week.

The difficulties with Rocco's is parking-it is street parking only so be prepared to park down the street a little and walk. It is never too far, but does sometimes reach down main street a bit. On those days, the line to get into the bakery can also wrap around the sidewalk a little bit. It is always worth the wait though, and the staff does everything they can to be quick and efficient.

Also, they are cash only, but have an atm if you need it. Honestly, knowing that we have a certain amount of cash on us keeps us from...

I have been a faithful customer of the New Haven Rocco's. I was lost until I realized that Annie extended family was opening another in Meriden. The bakery is absolutely amazing. The stuffed breads are delicious. Italian pastries are top line, cake excellent, homemade Italian breads and my favorite and the very best Poppy seed croissant pastry. Literally, when New Haven Rocco's closed I couldn't find anywhere that created these Poppy seed danish. When I came to Meridian and bought a dozen I realized they were the same touch of sweetness. There’s been a lot of talk about Rocco’s in a Meriden Facebook group, so I had to stop by and try them. I got a cinnamon roll (which was the size of my head), a blueberry danish, limoncello cake, and a slice of pepperoni and cheese stuffed bread. The staff were super nice and answered any questions that I had. Everything I’ve bought (for a very reasonable price) is five stars! I plan to be making more stops at Rocco’s in the future.
