We were headed to the Griddle in the same parking lot, but the wait time was too long even though this is their 2nd location and hasn't been open too long. I've written a 5 star review about that place elsewhere.
The Broken Yolk had seating available right away, despite also being very busy on a Sunday morning.
As soon as we walked in, we noticed that it was super busy and very loud. Having a conversation over a meal would be difficult due to the lack of noise cancelling interior design of the restaurant.
We were not given a choice of booth or table, and were forced to sit at table in the middle of a massive crowd of people.
We decided ourselves to move to the counter for some privacy, and instantly two people sat directly to the in left of me, without even allowing an empty seat in between us, despite there being plenty of room of open seating at the counter. There was a foot bar under the stools that ran the length of the bar, and it was shaking my entire meal due to someone tapping on it non-stop.
There were a ton of choices on the menu, a huge plus.
Despite us sitting down first, the woman and child to the left of us were able to have their order taken and delivered first.
The barstools swivel, which is a small but nice touch.
All the TVs on the walls (and there is a lot of them) have sports playing on all of them, so if that isn't your thing, maybe try somewhere else.
At one point, I watched my waitress-in-training walk out of the back kitchen area chewing food in her mouth, a huge red flag as I am pretty sure that is against food safety laws in Idaho.
Everyone at the counter and in the kitchen we're wearing food safety gloves, yet they were touching everything with them which shows they were definitely not sanitary. Wiping your gloves on your pants immediately destroys any chance of them staying clean.
The coffee (even though I ordered Decaf, was really good.
The French toast I ordered was three pieces, which is 1 more than I usually get at other places, however it was not very well battered. The strawberry topping was a nice touch, but when added to my hot French toast, was cold as if it had just come from a cooler, so it made my breakfast cold :(
The bacon I ordered was crispy and excellent, very well made.
My brothers omelet was very good, and he gives it a 4 out of 5 stars.
My scrambled eggs tasted like they were made with milk and not just eggs, which tends to weaken the overall flavor of the eggs and makes me feel as it was a filler to save money.
Once we were ready to pay, we waited a while to receive our bill, and placed it with our credit card on the counter as is customary. It was similarly ignored.
After waiting a while and watching our waitress walk by several times, we got up, took it to the cashier up front, who then proceeded to walk it back and hand it to our waitress, quite silly and a waste of everyone's time.
This was our first time visiting here, and we had talked about trying them out before, but unfortunately, this will be our last time coming...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food is typically decent to good in taste. However, my most recent experience was rather unpleasant.
I called ahead and got on their wait list. Showed up. Was sat promptly within 15 min of arrival. My son and I placed my order with our waitress Kristen, and then we didn't see her again until the very end to take payment. She never came by once to check on us or ask if we needed a refill. One of the dishes I ordered was spicy. And it was unpleasant to have to sit there with a burning mouth and nothing to quench it. I ended up drinking some of my sons water to quell the burn.
We waited over an hour for our food. In that time, i watched groups of people arrive and be seated 15 min after us, for them to eat and leave long before we ever got our food. At one point, I had counted 9 separate groups that came in after us,ordered, ate, and were gone before we ever saw our food. By the time the food did come out, you could tell it had been sitting for a while and looked oxidized after sitting around. It looked as though it had been sitting out for at least 25 minutes. The food was warm at best, but over half my food was cold, and part of my order was wrong.
The management came by and profusely apologized, offering to remake the food as well as offering a discount for the inconvenience. I appreciate their care and wanting to do right by us. I declined to have them remake it due to us having things to do and not wishing to wait further.
The rest of the staff, however, avoided us like a plague. I may have been upset, but I am civilized and conducted myself as such.other than the serious face I displayed, I was polite and cordial. The waitressing staff made me feel like some wild animal with how they approached or avoided me, and that made it really uncomfortable for us. Luckily, my son is young enough to where he didn't take notice.
The waitress was nonexistant, as mentioned. She started off strong with her service, but after ordering, that was the last we actually interacted with her. When she came by to take payment, she avoided interacting with me and came from behind and took it and brought it back without even a word of acknowledgment or offering to refill my empty glass.
As much as I would revisit. I know in my heart I will never return here nor recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt typically leave reviews, but considering it was Motherās day, I felt as if the experience we received should be heard by upper management. Sunday, around 1pm, me and my family went to The Broken Yolk for brunch to celebrate my mom. First, when we spoke with a host, we were told it was a 40 minute wait if you were not on the wait list already. We decided to wait since we should have called ahead. But as 20 minutes passed, we saw multiple other couples and families be seated with no wait, who wasnāt on the list. So I spoke with the host, and she replied with āWell you should have specified outside seatingā. I thought host were supposed to ask if we had a preference? I told her outside would be great and then we were seated. Then, there were maybe 4 hosts and bussers outside, who started a scene with another employee. This employee was working her butt off, asking the other 4 who have just been standing around chit chatting if they would clean off the tables. One employee replied with ātake a chill pillā and started stressing those around them, leading to a public argument in front of customers. This felt very unprofessional to my family and I, and other guest Iām sure as they turned heads when this took place. There then was an umbrella that fell due to wind onto my sisters head, not one employee came to help until I myself got up to lift it and close it. Then staff came out and helped, but did not tie it. So the umbrella would blow into my sisters hair, so I again got up to tie it, and now one of the 4 employees offered to help. I donāt mind the work, itās just the fact that staff are out there to help, and are oblivious to whatās happening around them. And then, 3/4 meals were delicious and made perfectly. But my brothers dish was served cold, with crepes tasting like dough. The owner came out and checked on us, and offered to remake 1 of the crepes given he ate 1. The crepes were then hot and fresh for him to eat, which was nice. Overall, the brunch turned into something unpleasant, not allowing us to focus on the celebration of my mother. Iāve been hear previously and had great service, but the staff who were working there yesterday made it extremely difficult for us to...
