Texas Roadhouse — Restaurant in Meridian

JULY 11, 2025. We came for dinner again. We have been back many times, and things were good except this evening was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

After looking at our previous ticket for the gift card. The server took a 20% tip off the gift card. My hubby left a 25% tip on the table, not knowing the server already took 20%. They got a 45% tip. That seems really dishonest. We weren't aware you could use a gift card for a tip. Who gives the server the right to take a tip off a gift card without permission. Again, we looked at our receipt, and we were charged for two margaritas and one beer. I never have two drinks, just one.

BE SURE TO LOOK AT YOUR BILL. WE WERE OVER CHARGED TWICE.

I ordered a drink off their menu. It took a long time and caused confusion. I ordered the $9.00 Margarita that apparently comes with its own kicker. The server explained this at the table in advance. I told her, "That's great, I dont have to pay for a kicker. I'll have the $9.00 drink. Then, later, the server came to the table and apologized for the drink taking so long. She advised that we couldn't add a kicker. I was like, what is going on. You just explained this to me five minutes ago. She said we aren't allowed that much alcohol in one drink. I wasn't trying to add more. I just wasn't aware that my $9.00 drink had its own kicker. The server must have confused the bartender.

We order a big prime rib, and we split the dinner. The entire dinner was excellent.

My hubby had already received his beer and chili beans. I'm still waiting for my salad. Finally, I got my drink and salad. About five minutes later, the prime rib we split came to the table with my mashed potatoes and his sweet potatoes. We are aware two sides come with the dinner and we have to pay for the other two. We always order pretty much the samething every visit. After all that, we went to pay with two gift cards. We had a card from our last meal with a balance of $39.53 and $100.00 gift card. Our dinner came to $67.60. With both cards, we gave them $139.53. Our bill was $ 67.60. We should have gotten back $ 71.93. The manager came back with $ 59.84, which was incorrect. We tried to go over the bill. He spoke over me because he said it was correct. As I tried to explain, he spoke over me, and I said wait and I shushed him. He said, "You shushed me, so I'm walking away. I was upset and said, "You cheated me. The manager said, "No, I didn't cheat you. The bill is right. As I looked at the bill, I noticed Sohie, the server, charged twice for my drink. Also, a kicker charged us for all the sides except one. THE MANAGER DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO UNDERSTAND. THERE WAS ANOTHER $10.25 THEY OWE US, PLUS WE WERE CHARGED WITH THREE SIDES, NOT TWO. AFTER THIS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, WE WILL NEVER COME BACK. THE MANAGER WAS RUDE. IT SPOILED OUR EVENING. I DID MY BEST TO EXPLAIN BUT NO HE WOULDN'T LISTEN. I'll be filing a complaint with corporate. We were overcharged and cheated. After all this chaos, the manager watched my husband leave a 20% cash tip. We always leave a cash tip. We weren't aware you could use a gift card for a gratuity.

I keep wondering why the manager and server have different ways of charging the customer. What a nightmare! However, I will say the food is good, it's too bad the people aren't trained better, especially the rude manager.

The server needs to be trained on billing, and the manager needs custom services training.

I will admit, I was really mad, why? The manager was wrong and wouldn't listen.

This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. My husband and I both review restaurants. I've never given a review this bad in the last...

Update: I am impressed. After our less than savory experience (March 30th) at this Texas Roadhouse, we were invited back by a manager. We came to the restaurant because a manager told us that our first experience was, “not what he wanted us to envision as a good dining experience at Texas Roadhouse.” We took his offer and returned on my mom‘s 72nd birthday. We did not divulge to any other service people that we were there to reevaluate our eating experience. Our server was Lauren, and she was a very considerate and attentive server. Room ambience was as expected in a restaurant that has a bar centered in the facility. We were comfortable with a room temperature, and there was NO obnoxious smell lingering in the air. There was music playing but not blaring! Which, made for a very enjoyable meal, that our family could converse, eat, socialize, and not be on devices, avoiding each other during our meal. Our server was a good conversationalist. I would say that she was not overly talkative and she did speak on any subject we brought up. A good server makes you want to engage in talking and makes you feel at home. Throughout the meal, she was checking to see if we had any needs, we had refills as needed, and asking questions about food quality and offering to remove plates to keep our table clear. She was handling multiple tables and made time for all of them equally. I suggest that prime rib medium rare , mash potatoes, and fresh steamed veggies for a satiating meal . Again, our server was not hounded to make our experience “amazing” she just naturally took care of us. I felt like I was at a friend’s home. Lauren, thank you so much! At the end of the meal we let management know we had returned and gave our compliments. My objective was to go in and see what it was like on a less busy day. To give a restaurant that I loved in other states another chance here in Boise, Idaho, off of Fairview .Wednesday 4/17 as we left business was picking up. I hope all who went in this evening enjoyed their meal the way our family did! Our food during this dining experience was exceptional. Meat was tender and juicy, sides were hot and fresh. I have no complaints about any of the side dishes. Meat to side dishes, Texas Roadhouse did NOT disappoint tonight! Everything was cooked in a manner that made the food delightful. Combine that with a great server and you have a good night out worth every penny! Coming in this evening to enjoy a birthday meal with my mother and having a wonderful server, very delicious food was exactly what we needed and were searching for on our first visit. I want to tip my hat to management because after I posted a scathing review it looks as though they focused on some of the things that were mentioned and really turned my experience around. Thank you ,Texas Roadhouse for bringing me back because as I said, we have been to many different Texas Roadhouses in many different states. This was a bad experience turned into a delight. I dare say this location is one of my favorites now. Please tip your server well and know that food service is a hard line of work and demanding. Thank you Texas Roadhouse, I will...

As a steak lover, I'm very skeptical about these types of places. In my mind I sort of lump these places together with Outback Steakhouse, Chilis, etc. Not that they are bad, but generally my experience with steak from these places are pretty "meh". I have perhaps spoiled myself with fine meats and restaurants around the world, and typically places like these serve cheap meat from the cheapest possible cows from the most questionable farms to keep prices low.

However, for my first ever visit to Texas Roadhouse, I was very surprised that the meat quality AND cook quality was actually pretty great!

I had the 20 oz. bone-in ribeye. This is a tiny bit smaller than I prefer (especially since the weight includes the bone), and at just about an inch thick, was slightly thinner than I would typically cook at home or order at a steakhouse. Additionally, they cook their steaks with the intersecting grill marks. I actually don't prefer this, as I prefer a uniform sear/crust across the entire surface of the steak. HOWEVER, I knew this was a good steak from the moment my knife touched it! It cut SO easily and had little-to-no gristle. From the way it cut and from the mouthfeel, it was clear it was a very well marbled piece of meat. Additionally, I could tell it was seasoned with a generous amount of salt. Loved that. People should not be afraid to salt their beef, especially with a high quality salt! I ordered it medium rare, and it was perfect edge to edge of the meat. This can be somewhat difficult to achieve on a thinner steak (although at ~1" this is doable), so I was impressed with this. I wondered if maybe they cooked it to rare via sous vide, and then finished it on the grill to bring it up to temp? Very little gray band at the top and bottom. The other amazing thing is... it was $29.99 and it comes with 2 sides! Yes, places like Outback or Chilis also offer steaks at this price but I am so disappointed by their steaks I won't ever order them anymore when I go there. Any amount of money spent on steak at those places is a waste. But this ribeye at Texas Roadhouse was probably the best thirty dollar steak (+sides) I've ever had.

Other things I loved: I took my mom and some of kids here, and the place was very welcoming to all. My kids felt welcome and the staff were very sweet to my daughter, complimenting her boots. :)

Mimi our server was super attentive, patient with my indecisive kiddos, and overall just on top of it with our food or anything we needed. She had a great attitude the entire time and could tell she loves her job.

My mom had the filet mignon medallions I think. She is also a bit of a steak snob like me and she loved her meal.

No wonder this place is always packed! I was completely wrong about my initial assumptions about this place. Definitely going to...
