A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Merrill

I was at this location in the afternoon on August 3rd. At this time it was not busy. The food was great and the staff was pleasant. However, it was filthy inside! The minute I walked in I should have known because the windows were dirty. The tables were also dirty and looked like they had not been cleaned in quite awhile. The floors definately had not been swept and were sticky! As I watched the young male staff member play with a condiment container on the counter, I wondered why he had time to spin that around, yet did not have time to wash the windows, sweep & mop the floors, or wash the tables. I watched as other staff members stood around and visited. I couldn't believe not one of them could see the dirt. Needless to say I left without finishing my meal. Want to give a special thank you to Cynthia for her genuine compassion and caring she showed towards my friend whom is disabled and how compassionate, caring and understanding she was. Cynthia even made my friend his favorite shake, a caramel shake even though it was not on the menu. She clearly has a heart full of compassion and understanding. The service was excellent, the food was mouth watering, and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing! Thank you for showing there is a great place to go out to eat that is compassion to customers, whether they are elderly, disabled, different races, young, etc. Merrill A & W literally brought my 75 year old mother to tears with the compassion shown to our friend and to the customers today. It's good to see a new A&W as I have always enjoyed the quality of their food. I look forward to having a frosted mug of rootbeer here with my Grandkids.

Traffic was light during my Saturday morning visit. I ordered and paid inside using their automated kiosk. Service was slow though as I imagine they are still shaking out go-live issues since their recent grand opening.
