Sadly, Greg's Restaurant in Metamora has really gone down hill in the past few years. It used to be a good local place with good food! I had lunch there on Saturday, and it was over-priced for just mediocre food. I ordered the French Dip au jus sandwich. It had very little meat on it, and the bun was spread with way too much margarine. The sandwich was served cold. The cheese on top was a cold lump and not melted at all. The small handful of fries that comes "free" with the meal were cold, as well. My companion had a plain burger and fries and a black coffee. I had a Shirley Temple, which cost $3.60! Our lunch bill was $40! They also add a surcharge onto your bill for using a credit card! The server leans over at the end of your meal to ask if you want to leave a 15, 20 or 25 percent tip? The server then records the tip on her hand-held order taking device. You feel bullied into leaving 20 percent, even though the meal was terrible! I also had a small side of Mac and Cheese that was made with what tasted like canned cheese. It had a funny flavor to it that I couldn't quite figure out, and the bread crumbs on top didn't help. It also took almost 25 minutes to get our food! Take my advice. Drive down the road to EG Nicks. They have a really delicious French Dip sandwich loaded with meat, tasty fries and a side of coleslaw for about the same price at Greg's. They have much better burgers, fries and better breadsticks, too! Sorry Greg's, you really need to up your game! I live close by, and I eat out often. I won't be...
Read moreIf you're on the hunt for the best chicken tenders around, look no further than Greg's of Metamora! As a self-proclaimed chicken tender connoisseur, I can confidently say that their tenders are some of the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and bursting with flavor—each bite is a delight!
We often get takeout from Greg's, and it never disappoints. The quality is consistently top-notch, making it our go-to spot for a quick and satisfying meal. During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and I must say, his passion for the restaurant is evident. He was incredibly friendly and genuinely cared about his customers. To top it off, he surprised us with a complimentary order of fries, which were equally delicious! It's these small, thoughtful gestures that make ordering from here feel special.
The staff at Greg's is consistently attentive and welcoming, making each takeout experience a pleasant one. My fiancé and I are definitely becoming regulars, especially when it comes to those chicken tenders paired with A1 or ranch. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this incredible combination!

Read moreLarge family rented a working farm vrbo for the long weekend for an early thanksgiving family celebration. Not everyone arrived at the same time, and while we prepped for the next day feast we realized we had not planned on dinner plans Friday night for the 7 of us that were in the area prior to dinner. The place was PACKED with a very lengthy waiting time. The staff were hustling, and it was pretty cleared out when we left around 7:30 so I see why they probably can't expand to a larger venue.
Zero complaints from anyone on the quantity and quality of food. The French dip was perfect sized, and perfectly shaved. Father inlaw said his French Onion soup was splendid, as were the various salads and fish and chips ordered. Youngest son (an adult in his own right) said the Burger was really good.
If in the area I'd definitely come again, but advise trying to avoid the Friday evening...
