A Disappointing Experience with Piro’s Bakery – Poor Service and No Accountability
I rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience with Piro’s Bakery was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share. I placed a cake order for a holiday celebration and expected a smooth and professional transaction. What I received was the exact opposite.
Upon arrival, I was told my order was lost. Then, suddenly, it was found—only for me to be handed the wrong cakes, one of which was clearly old. The writing was barely visible, the decorations were bleeding, and the overall presentation was completely unacceptable. When I voiced my concerns to the staff, I was told there was nothing they could do because it was Easter weekend. I asked to speak with a manager and was informed "no manager was on duty"—on one of the busiest weekends of the year.
To resolve the issue, I was told I needed to bring back the incorrect cakes in order to receive the correct ones. Not only is that inconvenient, but it also raised a serious question about food safety. If cakes are returned, are they just being resold to other customers?
When I returned to the bakery, I was again told there was no manager available. However, to my surprise, another staff member placed an internal call and—suddenly—the manager was located in the back of the store the entire time. When she finally came out, her response to my concerns was: “Well, you have the correct cakes now. Have a great weekend.” No apology. No ownership. No attempt at meaningful resolution. It was clear she just wanted me to go away.
After I called her back and demanded a refund, she implied I was at fault because I had “gotten an extra cake” and continued to cite how busy the bakery was due to the holiday. I reminded her that if a business cannot manage the volume of orders, it is their responsibility to limit orders—not penalize customers with poor service. My time is valuable too, and I intentionally hired a bakery to alleviate the stress of a busy holiday.
In the end, I did receive a refund—but not without being told to leave the property. What was most baffling was the manager’s attitude. She acted like she was the one being wronged, when in reality, I was the paying customer simply asking for what I ordered.
Mistakes happen. But how a business handles them speaks volumes. At no point did anyone at Piro’s take responsibility or try to make things right in a respectful or professional manner. Blaming the customer and hiding behind the excuse of being “busy” is unacceptable.
I will not be returning—and I sincerely hope they rethink how they treat their customers moving forward. It is the lying, victimization, and lack of professionalism that will keep me...
Read moreI am writing this one star review after trying to solve the issue with Piro's, and they have provided no solution or ownership of the issue. I pre ordered a cake and assortment of desserts a week ahead of time for a graduation party. Day of pickup, I sent my sister to pick up the order while I attended the graduation. When she went to pick it up they were unable to find my order and my sister had to call me (during a graduation so annoying) to ask me every specific detail of my order (what size cake, what kind of desserts, what was written on the cake), which were all details that I left in my pre order, assuming my sister would be able to give my name and phone number and they would hand her the pre made boxes of desserts. Instead they took a cake out of the case and very messily wrote "happy graduation" the writing was honestly so embarrassing, we were unable to even take picture with it. They also hurriedly packed my desserts and did not give me the assorted cannolis that I asked for and only gave me ricotta. After taking my complaints to Piro's their only consolation was that "they don't use a computer ordering system and they were very busy" I understand that places can be understaffed and busy, and I thought I was helping by ordering my desserts in advance so they would be prepared when I arrived. However if you are unable to adequately serve your customers without a computer system, then maybe invest in that. While their desserts are delicious, the fact that this business is unorganized and unable to appropriately serve their customers, I will take my business to a bakery who has joined this century and uses a computer...
