Mexicano Grill #4 — Restaurant in Mexia

Let's just start when we walked in shall we... There was toothpicks all over the ground by the cash out counter. They were not cleaned up until right before we left. It was approximately 9:30 PM when we walked in and there normal hours USED to be until 11 PM. We were told to seat ourselves so we did. When the waiter came to the table he looked all of 14-15 years old. He informed us that the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes, and asked if we were ready to order. We normally go in there and get the fajitas for one and split it so that is what we told him. We wanted flour tortillas, and corn tortillas (and were willing to pay extra). So we waited for quite sometime and they brought out the plate with rice, beans and other fixins. While waiting we were eating the chips and salsa... normally the chips look fresh made. The ones in our basket were bottom of the bag looking... and borderline stale. Yuck. We were not happy there. Finally our chicken and beef fajitas come out, and they were NICE and HOT, but too hot because by the time they stopped sizzling they were BURNT, and portions of the beef were inedible (i.e. fat, gristle). We alerted a manager, and informed him we had been in there many times before and never complained about anything. The food was always delicious... he tried to satisfy us with free sopapillas... didn't apologize for our meal not being tasty nor did he offer any discount. I had 3/4 of a horchata left over, and asked THE MANAGER for a to-go cup. Now I work in the food industry, and when a customer has a complaint we do everything in our power to make them happy. He did not go get our to-go cup or nothing... it's like he didn't even CARE! So we waited... and waited... and waited for the cup and to-go sopapillas. They never came. So we got up and went to the counter to pay... they had OVERCHARGED us on tortillas times 2. So by this time I was losing patience, and just wanted to get out of there. So we PAID in FULL for our order, and again the manager DID NOT CARE we were not satisfied. He even said "are you going to wait for your sopapillas, and I said "heck no, we have been waiting long enough for a to-go cup that never came". Needless to say folks if there is new management here this once wonderful Mexican food restaurant is about to go down the tubes. It is already headed that way IMO. So after taking the time to write this lengthy review I hope you go there and have a better experience BUT "eat at your own risk". We will NEVER be going there again which is a shame because we used to love it! I would suggest Goyo's on route 14 going towards Groesbeck. We just ate there tonight and had the fajitas for three and were thrilled with the service AND taste of the food! We even got to do a little karaoke! So...

Me and my family of 4 went here for dinner my father ordered a soup my mother ordered a mushroom burger and my cousin ordered nothing. I ordered chicken fajitas that came with beans rice and a side salad and on the menu it stated that I had to pick 2 sides of Pico guacamole sour cream and shredded cheese. I chose sour cream and cheese. My mother's burger came out as the wrong burger which had guacamole and was a different burger from the menu. Her fries were also uncooked in the middle. She reordered her burger and fries. Came back out okay. While waiting for food a plate with some lettuce beans guacamole and rice came out separately from my fajitas. Being confused about what this was I ate the rice and beans. About 15 minutes later all of our food came out. My plate was just the fajitas no tortillas came out with it neither did my shredded cheese or sour cream. Waited 5 more minutes for our waiter to come back and asked him for what I had initially ordered which included flour tortillas and the sides cheese and sour cream. It was brought out 5 minutes after. He brought me 2 very small tortillas and cheese and sour cream on a plate. We ate and didn't complain for much more, ketchup and things like that. When it came time to pay they had charged me for their most expensive fajita plate which was 19.99 amd I had only gotten chicken which was 16.99 they also charged me for sour cream and cheese which I asked for and was stated as the two things I could order. They said they could only remove cheese. We paid and got out overall terrible customer service food was okay and...

I have ate at this restaurant 3 times prior to my most recent experience today. An I will never ever be back here again. The waiter a service was absolutely amazing. But when we asked our server if the owners had changed or something was different we were told “no same owners. But new menu”. The worst an I mean worst I e ever had. An the server acknowledged how bad the new menu is when we said it was awful. Then to top it off after telling them how horrible it was an as the watched us pack up 6 boxes of pretty much everything we had ordered. They handed us the receipt a said “ by the way the manager already added the tip for you!” Really come on. Even though the food was hardly edible we cleaned up our table a stacked up plates a cleaned up our table for the server. Knowing we have 4 children an they can be messy, we clean up after our kids. No when my husband went to discuss the 176$ order an tell them again how unsatisfied we were we were told oh sorry you needed to tell the server there’s nothing I can do to compensate or reduce the bill. It was a done deal have a blessed day she said. How awful of them. We were 1 of there tables eating in there this afternoon. An I’m just so disappointed. An upon calling back to the restaurant the manager on duty just doesn’t want to take accountability for anything. Where is the customer service or even listening to the customer. Again I’ll never be back worst experience I’ve ever had. No wonder the place is empty now on a Friday night....
