Groups beware!

To preface, I am typically the planner friend. The one who thinks of every scenario possible so I can prepare my guests. I like to make sure I give them a proper budget and explanation of what to expect.

A few weeks prior to celebrating two friends of mine, I called top golf and was told I could walk in with 12 guests and request two bays next to each other as long as it wasn't super busy. I was told 6pm isn't normally busy so we planned for 6:30. On the day of, I called to ask how many checks and payments are allowed. The first person i spoke to had to put me on hold each time i asked a question as if maybe she was training or something. She told me the bays would be charged on one tab and they could take three different cards for that check. She also said that the food and drinks would be individually charged with their own check and card (since everyone wasn't playing) .. i didn't feel confident with her answer so I hung up and called back again. This time, I spoke to a Patricia who seemed to have had an attitude for some reason. She told me the check could be split and that food and drinks were separate but once I said we had a party of 10 (two canceled) she told me there was ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that my party could be seated together unless we had a reservation. I found that to be strange, especially if we go when it's not busy. So I asked, "theres no way we can be seated together? No matter the time?" She said no and that we would be on separate floors. It sounded more like someone who was trying to go out of their way to make sure we aren't seated together just to make a sale and make us spend more money by reserving two bays.

I hung up and proceeded to Top Golf anyway with the hopes that it'll all work out. We had some issues seating since some of our group wasn't playing but the manager offered us a hybrid lane.. with a couch and a high top behind it. That was very sweet of her.

As we sit, waiter told me that the food can only be split three ways which is NOT what I was told. I explained that i had called and was given different information. We were told that the customer service people live in Texas and essentially don't know what they're doing.

The manager then offered to take up to five split checks, meaning everyone had to double up with someone, which was fine and we were thankful to at least get a total of five checks.

We immediately put our orders in and once the food came, our time was almost over so our waiter basically suggested we either need to hurry up and finish eating or add another $15.50 for 15 minutes. My group was still eating so we extended the time but now the group stopped playing bc we were too focused on having to shove food down our throats. All of that, just for them to have us wait for about an hour to give us the check smh. Some of the people in my group were missing their drinks and food so the manager Gaby helped comp that. We truly appreciated her willingness to help us. But we were also very disappointed; some of my guests felt nickled and dimed and RUSHED. As the host, I was embarrassed.

I would never ever do a birthday party here again or any large gathering (more than 6) .. there's just too many factors and people giving...

Service wasn't at its Best. This Was My 1st time here ever and it was Blown by the Nonchalant Service from Many of the Employees. Way to Busy talking to themselves or just doing their own thing & Zoning out.

1st No one Noticed us as we Sat Down in the Dining area waiting for a Server/Waiter to come & Take our Order. A Lady Came Said She'd be Right Back but Never Came back. The Person who Finally came was a Rasta Dude in all Black (who's Probably a Bar Back) cause I Guess he Noticed we've been sitting for a Good While (I'll give Him Props for that) Now Here's where he Messed Up. He Took our Drink order, came back with it in about 7 Mins, Got 3 of the 4 Drinks Correct (The Spiked Strawberry Lemonade had Absolutely no Alcohol in). Next Kicker, He Took our Food order, No Pen No Paper, No Tablet Nothing. We Ordered Wings, A Wrap, A Grilled Chicken Sandwich & some Cheesy Fries.

We Got the Call that our section is Ready for Golf so We Asked the Guy if we can have the Food Delivered to us outside & he said Yes, Also Asking us what Kind of Chicken Sandwich we Ordered again cause he Clearly Forgot... We headed to Our area & Got the Do's and Don'ts from a Guy in Glasses (He did a Great Job). A other Guy who was Working outside Came to us & Asked us if we had Food Coming, we said Yes & Relisted our Order for him (he said their working on it). By this Time our Order was in for about 30 Mins already. 1st Food item to Hit our table was the Wings after 20 Mins, Next 10 mins was the Wrap & Chicken Sandwich. We gave them a Few Mins because we Assumed the Cheesy Fries we're on the way as Well but it never Came(So We Asked the Guy what was up & he said He Put the Order in again) so its possible that the Rasta from inside Forgot this item too...

We Had an 1 Hour Game session & the Fries didn't come to us until the Last 22 mins when were almost finished playing & everyone ate all the other Food Items (Do the Math, thats over an Hour for 4 Food Items) The Guy Working outside came to us & said he's not going to Charge us for the fries (Which came out Nothing like the Description, said 5 Cheeses only got 2 & for $10 you should even be thinking about skimping, either put more Fries or Sell the Item as Advertised) cause even he knows that was Ridiculous (I Gave him a Tip & said Thank you because he was the only one who seemed to have some Urgency & Common sense about him)

While the Place is Fun (Cause we had a Blast), the Service & Prices can Surely keep you away from ever wanting to coming back. And imagine all this happened on a Night that...

A big disappointment awaited us at TopGolf Miami Gardens on Saturday January 6th.

Our reservation for Saturday night at 5:30pm was made one day in advance. I got a text saying "Your bay will be ready at your reserved time" - it's not our first time at TopGolf, what could go wrong? But not that time...

We arrived at least 15 minutes before. Everybody had registered online, so we were excited to start on time and enjoy our 2 hours of game time.

At reception we were informed that our bay was not ready yet and asked to wait in the bar. That was weird, because at least 3 or 4 groups of people who arrived later than us were immediately invited to their bay. Since we're not first-timers, we asked the receptionist for a bay on the second and higher floors, since we're inviting friends who've never tried TopGolf before. However, the receptionist lady (wearing a baseball cap) kept saying there were only free bays on the ground floor. I got a text at 5:36pm saying our bay is ready. Again, we asked the receptionist to change a bay, since there were a couple of free bays on the second floor, and they sent people there without a reservation. What is the purpose of our booking then?!

So after all our requests to change the bay reception lady promised a free starter as an excuse. Our bay was almost last in the corner(ground floor) and there weren't any people on the floor, no staff at all. We had to go to reception again for a complaint, but the manager refused to help us in any way. Our friends were waiting for us at the bay. It was no one from the staff who set up the game or explained the rules or gave our friend some basic instructions. After some waiting, we started on our own (5.55pm). It took 5-10 minutes for someone to show up. Again, we couldn't find any waitresses on the ground during our game. Due to staff delays, our playing time was only 1 hour 35 minutes instead of 2 hours. We didn't get the free starter as promised.

The "bonus" was bird's droppings and food stains on the benches and an old damaged golf club. Shame, isn't it ?
