El Picante — Restaurant in Miami Township

After waiting at our table for 15-minutes for a server to come bring us water we had order our food three times before he could repeat the order back correctly. My husband's fajitas we're on a cold skillet and he never received the corn tortillas he ordered. My son ordered chicken and shrimp and the shrimp was bad. We could smell the bad shrimp as soon as they sat the plate down. My order was wrong. We asked several times for The Forgotten items before my husband stopped a hostess to help us. She then told us that she was sorry that they know he's not a very good server. My husband never got his tortillas they did take back the shrimp and bring my son chicken. And I ate the chili rellano on my plate. After we complained they gave us a $6 discount and took the corn tortillas off our bill. We were in the restaurant just over 2 hours and still left hungry and out $45. I would definitely not recommend...

We we're visiting the Cincinnati area for the evening and randomly chose this place to eat. The service was faster than other reviewers experienced and the staff was friendly. We started off with chips and salsa as expected. The salsa wasn't the usual salsa you expect at a Mexican restaurant. In fact, my wife hit the nail on the head when she described it as tasting like Bloody Mary mix. There was definitely a Tabasco and pepper flavor. We ordered some jalapeno poppers and they were pretty good but almost surely from frozen. My wife had the spinach quesadilla. It had a good flavor was very greasy. The rice that came with it was bland. I had the barbacoa and was pleasantly surprised. The meat was tender and had a great flavor. The corn tortillas weren't too dry either. We wouldn't go out of our way to come here again but if I lived in town I would come back to try...

The last time I went to El Picante was way back in elementary school, as part of a class outing. That was over ten years ago, but I've never been able to get that fantastic, amazing meal out of my mind. I think of it every time we drive past the restaurant. I finally went back today, and somehow (???) the food managed to exceed my expectations, which I wouldn't have thought possible. So, so good. Meal aside, our server was very friendly and attentive. Everything was brought out quickly, and the actual restaurant itself was clean and comfortable. The prices are excellent. I ate way too much of the chips and salsa, so I'll be getting a second meal out of my leftovers. Anyway, I couldn't possibly be more satisfied. I wish I could give 10 stars. But if I could give 10 stars, I'd want to give 20. Can't wait to come...
