My recent visit to Jacalito #2 in Little Havana was a truly enjoyable experience, offering authentic Mexican flavors in a charming, small establishment! This place is a fantastic find for delicious and affordable Mexican cuisine.
The food was genuinely good, and the prices were even better, offering excellent value. I particularly loved the tacos; the pork tacos were outstanding, easily the best I tried, packed with flavor. What truly surprised me were the refried beans – I usually avoid them, but here, they were absolutely delicious, perfectly done, and I could honestly eat them all day! The rice was also perfectly cooked, complementing the dishes beautifully. I also heard great things about their lunch bowl with carne asada, which sounds incredibly satisfying. The shrimp tacos were also a good choice, fresh and tasty.
Beyond the fantastic food, the atmosphere has a great vibe. On one occasion, they even had a DJ, which added a fun and lively show to the dining experience, creating the right kind of energy. The staff provided good service, ensuring my meal was satisfying. It’s a nice, small spot with both indoor and outdoor seating options, making it versatile for different preferences.
Jacalito #2 is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Mexican food in Little Havana. Despite being a smaller establishment, it delivers big on taste and value. I highly recommend stopping by for their delicious tacos, incredible refried beans, and the overall good vibes. I'm already looking forward to...

I recently dined at Jacalito Mexican Restaurant, and I must say, I was disappointed. While the ambiance seemed authentic and it's situated in Little Havana, giving the impression of genuine Mexican cuisine, the experience fell short.
I ordered a burrito, expecting a hearty Mexican delight, but what I received was more akin to a chicken wrap than a traditional burrito. Moreover, the price tag was exorbitant for what was essentially a lackluster meal. The menu advertised a reasonable price range, but I ended up paying nearly $15 for a dish that should have been $11-12, excluding tax.
Speaking of which, the final bill seemed inflated, with taxes amounting to an unexpected $3-4 increase. Adding insult to injury, they even solicited a tip for a takeout order, which felt unreasonable given the circumstances.
Despite its humble appearance in a run-down shopping center, I had hoped for an authentic culinary experience. Unfortunately, Jacalito Mexican Restaurant failed to deliver on both quality and value. I'll be sticking to Taco Rico for my Mexican food fix in the future.
Overall, a disappointing dining experience that left me...
Read moreWent to dinner with my family (party of 3) tonight. Food wasn’t the best but after dinner when the check came we noticed that an 18% gratuity was added. When asked why when on the receipt it stated for parties of 4 or more automatic gratuity was added the server said because our bill was higher than 50 dollars the system added gratuity automatically and it was “new” that just started and she could not do anything about it. One it wasn’t posted on the business walls nor listed on the ticket and two why was 18% placed on the ticket automatically? Doesn’t give the customer a choice on how much or what to tip. You’re just forced to pay that much. So basically a customer comes in whether 1,2 or 3 and they sit there ordering tons of tacos or beers or margaritas or specialty plates if it’s 50 or more watch for the gratuity increase and placed on you ticket and the server gives a weak excuse she can’t do anything about it which is illegal to do without proper notification on the...
