This has been one of my favorite finds this year. I mentioned to an acquaintance, that I was craving good fritanga food and she immediately said I had to try Caña Brava. I was instantly hooked and have been back about once a week for lunch or dinner ever since. My husband and the kids are big fans too. I have only had the carne asada (steak) because it’s so good I haven’t wanted to be disloyal to a winner. LOL The meat is tender, deliciously seasoned with spices and lime and has a great sear on the outside adding that charbroiled, grill taste. I’ve had white rice at dozens of places, but theirs medium grain, white rice is soooo good. It’s not over cooked or dried out or crunchy like many other places serving subpar sides, and it is so flavorful and aromatic. They add tiny amounts of green peppers and onions to flavor and moisten the rice and boy is it good. Next are the plátanos maduros (fried, sweet plantains), which are always on point, and the one time they weren’t was only because the bananas were not ripe enough (not their fault with so much demand). The tajadas (fried green plantain chips) are also crispy and perfectly fried. Make sure to ask for extra picante sauce if you like a spicy topping for them or the crema if you’re not a fan of the spicy stuff. I personally like them plain or I use them to scoop the yummy cabbage salad that comes with each meal. The gallo pinto (small red beans and rice) is also delicious, flavorful and moist. While still good, the only negative thing I can say about an item is that the queso frito (fried cheese) is too thin and floppy. I prefer a smaller, thicker slice that is well fried and crispy on all sides. This happens because they fry them in bulk and store them covered in a warmer and the condensation makes the crispy parts soggy. But again, with as crazy busy as this place can be, I get that they have to work in bulk, and fast, so the floppy cheese in not a deal breaker for me. I’ll live. I have also tried their coconut cake and it is a huge, heavenly, warm cube of poundcake baked with coconut and tiny pieces of pineapple mixed in, and then lightly soaked in condensed milk. WOW is it good! I haven’t tried much else here, but with these being so good, I may never stray. The place is extremely casual and unassuming. It does have parking in the rear and on the street, but it’s limited when busy. You can order online for pickup and avoid the very long, winding line that forms quickly during peak hours. You can also have Uber Eats deliver. If you’re looking for a GREAT Nicaraguan fritanga, give this place a shot. You won’t be disappointed....

Read moreThis place was waaaay overhyped. I was disappointed. It's an average fritanga with average food. The ones by my home are significantly better in terms of taste.
This restaurant does offer you more bang for your buck, no doubt. The meat is thicker, yet still soft. The gallopinto was alright, a little crispy and not soft. The maduros was straight trash. If you're going to buy their natural juices, don't buy the maracuya like I was hyped into getting. It's just regular ol passionfruit juice, nothing crazy.
I bought 4 ice cream baggies, 2 carne asadas, an order of buñeulos (3), a large cup of natural maracuya juice, a slice of bread pudding and had cheese added to both foods. I spent $30, which is a hell of a good buy. The fritanga by my place is not as large as this one and more expensive.
Overall, the service was fine, took a while to get attended but that was because there were so many customers, not because the employees were slacking off. The food was whatever in terms of taste but didn't lack quality and was cheap for the amount they gave. In fact, one of their cheese slices is actually twice the size of what I get at the places near me.
You should go for cheap eats, not because their food tastes amazing. Although, all of the chosen desserts...
