Umi Sushi — Restaurant in Middleburg Heights

When I walked in the store was clean and had a fresh smell. Typically when walking into a sushi place you can tell by the smell if it’s going to be fresh or not. I didn’t see any crumbs on the floor or garbage. Everything was clean. We were greeted right upon walking in and because there were only two people working, when she would be in the back preparing food and someone walked in the guy making sushi would greet them instead which is nice because it lets customers know that you are being recognized. The food is very fresh and I would even say on the cheaper side when it comes to sushi. I used to eat at Shinto before this and I think I will now change my sushi place to this restaurant. What’s even more great is that if you’re an indecisive person the store only serving sushi and maybe other smaller entrees makes it even easier to make a choice on what you want to eat. I didn’t eat at the restaurant but in the future I will because everything is so clean and the decor and atmosphere is nice and relaxing. I normally dont give a full five stars, but this place deserves it. The food is very good, Ive never been disappointed with anything I ordered. The prices are also very reasonable. The hibachi meals are expensive, but you get so much food Ive always needed a box to take home leftovers. The service is excellent, and Ive repeatedly seen the owner/manager try to make things right when mistakes (real or perceived) are made. Finally, the reason I give them five stars, is their presentation. When one makes a large sushi order, it isnt simply plopped on a plate. They make the extra effort to arrange it in an appealing way. The same with several of their other dishes. All in all, Umi has comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, and tasty food at a reasonable price. What more do you want from...

This is the most fabulous Japanese sashimi and sushi restaurant in NE Ohio. The chef is outstanding, prepares wonderful, tasty, Japanese cuisine, with beautiful presentation. Chopsticks are standard.

All brands of saki are available, including HOT SAKI for cold winter evenings.

We have become regular customers every week since opening. Kristi and Jason and their staff are very friendly and excellent in their service.

They have numerous special fare on a regular basis. Best are their oysters. My wife has never liked oysters, but she loves these. We and another couple who are regulars clean out the supply when they have them.
