Corn Crib Cafe — Restaurant in Middlebury

We were looking for a fun spot for lunch and we were delighted to discover Corn Crib Cafe.

The decor was elegant and fun and the service was friendly and intelligent and the food was scrumptious.

My son got a 7-in pizza with sausage and pepperoni. His friend got a grinder with chicken, bacon, ranch. My mom ordered off the sides menu and got a broccoli salad, the kind you get at a church potluck, also some delicious cottage cheese, and sweet potato waffle fries. The sweet potato waffle fries actually were a hit the ordinary waffle fries were a little less crispy than we might have liked.

I got this delicious quesadilla with grilled chicken, black beans, small cubes of sweet potatoes, corn, cheese, and other delicious things. It was huge and after I couldn't finish it I come into that it should be made available in a half portion and learn that if I had asked for that they would have done it. You should ask for what you need.

One note against them: they have bare walls and a bear ceiling and tile floors and metal chairs and all of that causes sound to echo and they have nothing there to absorb sound and it was so loud that my mom had to take out her hearing aids because it was painful. I commented about this to our waitress and she said they were aware of it and we're trying to think of something to improve...

Okay, so for our quest to find the best pizza we went to a little hole in the wall Corn crib Cafe, we wanted to try the pizza here because diamonds come from the most hidden places sometimes. We ended up getting a 16 inch specialty meat pizza. There was 6 of us and so this was how the ratings turned out. Crust was not greasy at all, plenty of cheese and decent amounts of cheese. The pizza had a comforting home taste. My daughters loved it and one gave a 5 on a one to 5 scale , 5 being the highest. The other daughter and I gave it a 4 good but not really something u would HAVE to have again. The men gave it a 3-4. So as you can see the pizza isn't bad, it really depends on what your looking for. The service on the other hand, I don't know if they were just tired by the time we got there but we didn't get silverware until 15 min in and that meant eating appetizers with forks. Only half of us got straws and had to say something twice before we got the rest of them. The pizza is why we gave the restaurant 4 stars. Not because of the service. Used to be one one of my favorite places to go in Shipshawna.. But today changed that.. I called in my order and let them know that I'm on a tight time schedule and I wanted to place my order .. I get there and sit down and was later told that anytime I call in an order. I am to go on five lakeside to eat it or leave.. i was told they don't do reservations.. I didn't request a table. I just wanted my food being prepared so when I got there I did not have to wait long to eat, They even put my food in a togo box .. Was not happy with the way I was treated.. When I went to pay my bill she spoke to me again about it .. I felt like a child being scolded ...I was so upset, I told her I have never been treated so unruly and felt so unwelcome .. Lost alot of respect for that manager *owner...
