This is certainly my favorite pizza . I find the Middlebury location to be closest to the original that I remember from back in the 70's. As a kid we lived in Wolcott and would get a pie every Friday from the Wolcott St location in Waterbury when it was just called Domenick's. For some reason, the Waterbury location now isn't very consistent with the flavor of the sauce, it is either more acidic or they just use more sauce than Middlebury and it is always way more charred, sometimes too dry of crust, maybe they are compensating for the dryness by adding more sauce?? Not sure. I'm not sure why but having the crews weighing and portioning consistently as well as maintaining the correct temperatures could be monitored better in Waterbury IMO. It is still good, but improvements could be made to make all of the restaurants equal since ordering online could send you to Waterbury if you are closer. My wife and I have been noticing quite the difference in flavor, hardness and sour/acidity lately, within the last year I'd say, but Middlebury is pumping out pies to me that don't ever make it to the next day because they are...
Read moreThe pizza was very good. Maybe not the same kind of good as pepes or modern, but still very good nonetheless. The crust was very similar to new haven style pizzas which i like, but it lacked a little something that the other places have. Not sure what it is, but it was different. Maybe because they cook in electric ovens vs the other places being coal/wood/or oil fired ovens. I was also a little surprised that they cut the pizza in squares too. Not a big deal but just a surprise. Like i said, the pizza was very good and very local to me. My only 2 big complaints are: the prices!!! 2 takeout pizzas cost me $63!!! One was a medium special pie, and other was large pepperoni and peppers. I know prices are forever rising, but wow!!! The other complaint is that takeout pizza is served on a piece of flat cardboard and placed in a bag. This made it very hard for me to carry both pies out the door and then place them in car without stacking them and mashing the toppings or creating a sopping mess out of the bags. It would be much better if theyd just put their pies in boxes like the rest of the pizza...
Read moreThis is my second time being disappointed with my encounter at Domenic and Vinnies in Middlebury. Me and my husband went there this past Friday night and service was awful. There was two waitresses working. Our waitress took our order with an attitude and then she was no where to be found. No drinks, no silverware no follow up. We felt unwelcomed. This is the second time this happened with the same waitress. The other waitress came around and asked if we needed anything. We asked for the silverware and our drinks after telling her that we had been sitting for a while and could not find our waitress. She apologized and went and got everything for us. She also brought our food. The only time we got to see our waitress was at the end when she dropped off the bill. Domenic and Vinnies please do better with your...
