"One visit was Enough" The experience of going to Vyne for Sunday brunch was similar to visiting the Breakers mansion in Newport, RI. The anticipation of seeing the architecture of such a lavish and stunning building is very high. Trying to catch a glimpse of everything from the patio, waterfalls, and the inside of the restaurant can be a bit overwhelming. But similar to the mansion tour, the thrill is gone after only one visit. There's no need to go again. The restaurant is beautiful. Our waitress was very nice and did her best to accomodate us. And the rest of the staff that we met were also very nice. But the food and drinks can use some improvement. We had some highs, but mostly lows thanks to the chef and bartender. I began with the brunch Super Bloody Mary. My drink was topped with a celery stalk, lemon and lime wedges, three olives, a colossal shrimp, and a strip of bacon. The drink itself was good and the shrimp was tasty. But the cold rubbery piece of bacon was nasty and tasted like it was sitting in the fridge for a week. Plus the drink was missing the stuffed cherry pepper. My wife had a regular bloody mary with a celery stalk, lemon and lime wedges, and three olives. We both ordered a second round of the regular bloody marys. This time the three olives were missing. Where is the consistency? The highlight of my brunch was the smoked salmon with capers, artichoke, red onion, lemon vinegrette, dill creme fraiche, cucumber, and flat bread. It was a very good dish. But it all falls apart from here. My wife had the Sunday Omelette for brunch. Goat cheese, spinach, and "sundried tomatoes?" My wife tasted the omelette and then had me taste it. Something was missing. It didn't have much flavor and needed salt. Oh yeah....Where are the sundried tomatoes? Our waitress was nice enough to go ask the chef. Instead of the chef taking some pride in his work and presenting my wife with a new omelette prepared properly. He sent the waitress back with a small dish of chopped sundried tomatoes to add on top of her already cold omelette. Very poor decision by the chef. I had the crabcake benedict. The presentation was ok, but the crabcake had no flavor. And for some reason, there was a slice of canadian bacon that was difficult to chew. The bacon wasn't even in the description on the menu. And why the thick brioche bread? The home fries were ok, but not great. The best part of both dishes was the side of grilled asparagus. As I had indicated in the beginning of my review for Vyne, our brunch was similar to a tour of the Breakers mansion. Looks great from a distance, but the closer you get, the more flaws you'll see...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I went to Vyne for her birthday expecting a great experience. It did not happen. We sat outside by the water features, which was the best part of our meal.
After several minutes of reviewing the menus, our server, Sarah, stopped by our table to ask if we had any questions. She did not offer to take our drink order - we had to tell her before she started to walk away that we would like to order drinks. My wife ordered her drink, and I ordered a cocktail to get started, along with a glass of wine that would accompany dinner.
Sarah later returned to take our dinner order. We ordered two appetizers and our entrees. Approximately 20 minutes later, a young gentleman brings our entrees to the table, when we bring to his attention that we never received our appetizers. Surprised, he says "well, I don't know what happened" and places our entrees in front of us and walks away. Five minutes later, our server returns to our table and says, "So, I made a mistake. You don't still want your appetizers, right? I can have them make them right now."... Disappointed with the service and lack of an actual apology, we declined the appetizers. Meanwhile, we are halfway through our entrees (including an over cooked filet mignon), and I still don't have my wine.
We finished our dinner and Sarah returns to take our plates. Not once did she ask how our meal was or how we were doing. Another five minutes pass, Sarah returns to ask if we would like dessert. I think she already knew the answer at that point - we declined and asked for the check. She returns with the check which we review for accuracy given the level of service we had already received. It correctly did not have everything she forgot, including my wine. Sarah returns with her handheld device and processes our payment. We had seven interactions with Sarah - all mentioned here. Given the lack of apology, general inadequate service, or any form of remediation, this is the first time I have walked away from a meal without leaving any form of gratuity. We then took our business over to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I came here on a Satursay to celebrate our anniversary. I would advise making a reservation as this place was pretty popular that day, luckily we did, we were sat immediately and they were able to give us outdoor seating which was nice as it was a beautiful day. Our waitress (I wish I knew her name) was fantastic. I could tell she had alot of tables but did her best to ensure we had a great dining experience. The ambiance is beautiful, the music was great. However, my husband had a dirty place mat. He's not a complainer so he cleaned it off himself. We ordered an appetizer that went to the wrong table and then was brought to us once the error was discovered. In the midst of a pandemic you don't really want that kind of mix up. I ordered eggplant parm and my husband ordered a steak from a specialty menu. My food was average but my poor husband ordered his steak medium rare, it came well done š©. As previously stated he is not a complainer so he ate it. We ordered creme brulee for dessert which was tasty. A woman who I presume was a manager came over to clear the table and ask us about how the food was (which was commendable) when my husband said "ehh my steak was overdone" she awkwardly laughed and said "yeah we have to work on our steaks" and that was that lol. The receipt came, he was charged for the wrong steak($15 more), our waitress quickly cleared up the error. Wrong beverages and food kept being presented to our table and from what I could see every table throughout the night. Another gentleman who I presume was another manager gave us a impromptu tour or the place which I thought was kind considering they were so busy. With that being said I'd come back for drinks and desserts only* on a less busy day. You can tell the staff was really trying their best and I appreciate that in...
