Mountain Mugs Craft and Coffee — Restaurant in Middlesborough

I want to start this by saying this is in no way meant to tear down the coffee shop, but is meant to make them aware of some issues so they can improve. My husband and I LOVE to support local and Middlesboro needed a local coffee shop. We were so happy when Mountain Mugs came about. The atmosphere is great (however I do like brighter lighting) and their craft events are fun. I love that it is LMU alumni who own it and that they were trying to pave a way for a local coffee shop. Initially, all was well. I have however noticed a slow decrease in quality and consistency. As two people with little time on our hands, we stopped in multiple times only for them to be closed. This is a small town and we know many announcements and schedule changes are posted on facebook. We DO look at that and even with updated hours, we would show up with the doors locked which is extremely frustrating. It happened too often to not mention anything. I'm not sure if this is due to the employees they choose to hire, staffing difficulties, medical/health emergencies, etc. I know they are human and probably had something going on, but it is something to note. On top of just never knowing when they will be open, their drinks have slowly declined in quality. Their drink menu is sooo diverse and sounds delicious. Some of the drinks were my go to favorites. Recently when we finally found a time they were open our drinks tasted watered down with very little flavor which was not the case when they first opened. There food is okay, but I am never really there late enough to eat there. Their staff do not always seem very professional. I hope in the future they can hire consistent employees who are dedicated to show up on time and make quality drinks and we will be...

Don't take this wrong it's just the truth i love mountain mug i do its beautiful inside and out but every-time i go there its closed i want coffee in the morning not in the afternoon. Im sorry but i went by 7, 8, and 10 and still closed. I feel the flavors and menu has lost interest and its basic coffee. I love the girls and workers its just i feel like this coffee house has lost it's interest in coffee. I work here so I can confidently say that this is a quality place to come to for coffee, food, and a good atmosphere. The owners are not thieves, this is false and beyond hurtful. I’ve loved working here and was a regular before then! Please come in, get a coffee, a sandwich even, and chat with us! I love talking to people and seeing them leave satisfied.
