I meant to post a couple of months ago. I leave it to you to decide what you think about my experience and review. Though I'm a really honest reviewer.
I went to buy eggplant parmesan. It's my favorite dish and I order it from everywhere. So I order and sit down, playing phone games.
When it's ready, the older Italian guy looking at me from behind the counter, calls out "Eggplant, eggplant!" with a stupid smirk on his face. For those of you who don't know, the word eggplant is an Italian slur against certain races for their skin tone. (Actually not an insult, except that they mean it as one...)
Anyway, when I walk up to the counter and look at him, he still has a smirk, like he's proud of himself. So I decide to play with him about it.
I tell him, no, it was an eggplant parmesan not sn "eggplant". (This is where an honest person would have been slightly insulted at the idea that he tried to use an onvious slur) He just repeats me, "Oh, eggplant parmesan." He didn't ask why I said that, but he still had a smirk. Alrighty then...
At that point, I knew he knew exactly what he was doing. It's too bad. I love eggplant parmesan, but I'll never shop there again. (Your dollar is your vote.) I guess I shouldn't be surprised that someone would try to be offensive in America in 2025. This isn't really a shining point in our county's history, and this guy's attitude is reflective of that.
I'm glad it happened though, because after 3 years of living in this region it forced me to drive just a little further to a suburban type of diner on Street Rd that I hadn't been to in a while and buy their eggplant parmesan. Best in the region. So this guy kind of did me a favor, because the truth is they don't give enough eggplant in their eggplant parmesan at Peppi's. I'm used to authentic Italian food. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either (from here).
And that's pretty much my honest review for their food. Not bad, not great. But...
Read moreAnother pizza Friday in the books. Checked out Peppi's Pizza in Langhorne. As usual got a large chicken Parm pizza. This was a great thin pie. Sauce and cheese were great. Cheese had a lot of flavor and the Parm comes through here. Sauce was sweet. Dough also had good flavor. Even the crust was good. Like taking a bite out of a fresh baked loaf of bread. Bottom was lightly toasted. The small chicken chunks were well seasoned and modestly spread onto the pie. Felt like there could've been more but it was quality. Overall I'd give this pie and...
Read more$15 in the garbage. Who can mess up chicken fingers and fries with a pepperoni roll?! The fries taste like the oil it was fried hadn't been cleaned. Chicken fingers were like patties, dry and the sauce was an extra charge ( I didn't get and would probably be sour). The pepperoni roll was stale and countertop warm. I tossed my lunch and drank the soda. Also, the placed smelled like sewage when walking towards the dining area to use...
