Great Wall Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Middletown

Oh where can I start?! I have been going to Great Wall my whole life! This is the homiest and most friendly little restaurant I’ve been to. I am always welcomed and greeted politely by the wonderful staff. The food here is top notch with tremendously great prices! Their generosity and overall kindness is so heartwarming and you’ll just want to return! Making my monthly visits to enjoy their delicious Lo Mein and flavorful wonton soup! The chefs sauces are incredible and hold various yummy flavors. They are very accommodating to order modifications and very understanding. I have never had a negative encounter! Food is always ready in ten minutes!! Never had a delay! They always give you handfuls of fortune cookies and sauces Before you go to make sure you get the most out of your meal. Friendly and fast service. Little disappointed by how bland my fried wonton and egg rolls are. I know most folks drown these in sauce so to them it probably doesn't matter. The general tso's is VERY sweet and only a little spicy. And my "fried" dumplings seem like they were steamed and then showed what a frying pan looks like. The white rice is great, it's amazing how much white rice can vary. Generally typical basic Chinese food.

Maybe I got my hopes up because of the high rating and the large amount of customers who came in right at opening today. I just happened to be in the area and like trying random Chinese places since my favorite place closed.

The food is good quality and satisfying, just not made to my tastes. I'd give this place another shot next time I'm in middletown, but I would skip the fried stuff and specifically request my general tso's to be spicier and...

My favorite place for Chinese takeout. The food is better than most take out places and very consistent, but most of all, the people the work here are wonderful! Short of finding a real sit down Chinese restaurant (very rare now) this is always the place I go.

7/4/2024 - Two things about a recent order. One, no matter how many times I've asked for extra spicy, they just don't get it. They don't even go to basic Buffalo wings spicy, and I'd really like my Chinese food to be at least a jalapeño level! Second, my last order of General Tso's chicken tasted like seafood. Guessing they cooked in the same pan as shrimp. Good thing I don't have a shellfish allergy, but I know people who do. Maybe even cross contamination, but i didn't get sick.
