Gym Staff is rude, specifically the manager Kyle, and Club 24 Middletown (or maybe all of them) do not honor the contracts you sign with them. I signed up in November 2021 for an orange pass for 2 years because it offered 1 free guest after 5am (yes 5am!) which I thought was a excellent deal. I go with my fiancé most morning at 6:30am so we can get to work on time.
I got a call this week which said they would now charge me $25 every time I brought her before 7am. When I explained I had a 2 year agreement, which I paid for up front in full, their solution was she comes to the gym 30 minutes after me or we go after work. I asked to speak to the owner and the manager said the owners would not speak to me.
The reason for this is because now, with their new schedule changes, no one would be at the front desk to sign her in and have her sign a liability waiver. Keep in mind that she has been coming in for the past year with me and has been signing the waver……on an iPad. When I asked if she could just sign the waiver digitally to resolve this issue and honor my contract they said they could not do that.
No integrity in honoring their members contracts/ agreements or understanding that coming in a half hour later means someone would be late for work and some people cannot go to the gym after work. I was made out to be a crook or a Nuisance for simply asking they honor their agreement.
I would be happy to remove this review if they call me back and honor...
Read moreI recently had to change my membership from the Orange plan to the basic. I paid a $21 cancellation fee and $52 to open the Basic membership. The person at the desk did not tell me that it is only a 24 hour gym for orange members. I can no longer access the gym anytime. I was an orange member for just shy of one year. Other people I know that work out here have the basic membership and have full access. I asked one of the Asso. She told me they changed the policy. . Anybody that already had a basic membership is grandfathered in. This is very unfair considering I was already a member for one year. Also, when I signed up for the basic membership, the price at the gym was $2.79 per week but online it was $1.99. I was told that I would have to sign upon my phone in order to get the 1.99 deal so I did but when the first billing cycle came, I was charged $2.79. I’m not sure what’s going on here but the whole thing has got me pretty upset, I like the gym and the fact that it’s a 24 hour access gym but if this can’t be fix I’m just going to keep this membership for one more year to get my moneys worth that I had to pay for cancellation of the old membership and the re-signing of the new membership and find another gym to go to. There are too many other options in town to deal with this aggravation. Just beware if you are thinking about getting a membership here it is only a 24 hour gym for their top-tier membership. I used this gym 3 years ago so hopefully some of this has changed, but I’ll give what I know.
When I used this gym regularly the equipment would regularly be broken and never would be fixed. Always a sign saying it’s on the schedule to be fixed, but never repaired.
My real issue is with the management who I called 2 years ago to cancel my membership since I moved out of state. Say I need to send a certified letter (fair, but scummy practice whatever).
I started getting phone calls 2 years after I sent the letter saying my account was past due?? Didn’t even realize I was still paying for this, but now they conveniently “lost it” and I have to send another and cover the past due balance to get my account cancelled.
“Manager” is never around I’ve called multiple times since moving away and the manager is always away. Desk manager has no power and hangs up when you don’t just roll over for their mistake. Offered to stay on the line and wait for the manager to “show up” and just hung up. Manager isn’t...
