Getting here is a bit of a trick if you're approaching from the north; you can't U-turn at Millbrae, nor is there a great place to turn around after making the left. They've been working on building a BART station there for forever, too, so that situation is probably going to worsen. We'll try using Maps to find a good route in on our next visit. The staff were super nice and the food was pretty good. There are a few interesting items on the menu. I had the tuna melt and the wife had chicken fried steak, which came with a side of pancakes. The portion sizes were quite generous and we went home with leftovers. Overall cleanliness seemed a bit low to me. There was the usual assortment of knick-knack decor I associate with diners, but there also seemed to be a bit of clutter about, almost like they were rearranging the space? The dining area was fine and the table was clean, but the restroom left something to be desired and is in need of repair. Floral arrangements around the perimeter of the dining area were an interesting choice. We appreciated the Christmas tree. We were a bit confused that there appeared to be a closed bar. This place closes at 3 PM - maybe they had longer hours pre-COVID? Cost was average. We'll be going back and getting a better feel for the place, try some more items...

I love the breakfasts, and often have the homemade sausage for dessert or as a take home. Tonight, however, I had the Teriyaki Skirt Steak dinner. (Made with homemade teriyaki sauce. ) Peter 's has the best Thousand Island Dressing so my meal started with a beautiful and delicious salad. Then the incredible steak, served with beautifully cooked carrots, and rice or potatoes.
My friend had the Corned Beef Special (corned beef, boiled potato, cabbage, and carrots). Specials come with soup or salad, a homemade roll, and dessert. He was thrilled with his meal and left with a full tummy and a happy smile.
I have been dining at Peter's Cafe for over 30 years. For me, it is a 5 STAR cafe. My friend thought it was a little old timey, thus the 4 stars.
I drive from San Francisco for the sole purpose of dining...
Read moreAfter a long night of fun and drinks, I needed a good breakfast spot, especially since I we were staying the Westin, which was hosting a conference and was super busy in the morning. After some research and craving comfort food, the family and I decided on this spot. It’s within walking distance, but we drove which was convenient and there was plenty of parking on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m. Their menu features dishes like loco moco, steak and eggs, burgers, hot and cold sandos that caught my eye, but I wanted something hearty. I knew a chicken fried steak would hit the spot, so I decided to share it with my partner. My sister ordered a burger, that hit. Her fries and burger both looked absolutely delicious, and the chicken fried steak was fantastic! We also ran into a few friends from the wedding party, which just reaffirmed that this place is known for great food. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Overall, worth...
