Went to Café 26, a new restaurant in a refurbished Burger King building, for lunch with a friend. It was our first visit and I was totally unimpressed.
I ordered the Gyro sandwich and iced tea. The meal arrived quickly so I was a little surprised when I found that the edges of the lamb were overcooked and crispy, although the meat itself was tender. The sandwich was large with the meat and other ingredients spilling over the edges of the pita bread. The ice tea I ordered was served without a straw which was a bit unusual although in our eco-friendly environment no plastic straw was appreciated
Service was friendly but sporadic. The main served was pretty much all business taking our order and delivering the check. In between, someone else brought the food to the table and anyone who passed by checked to see if we needed anything. It just seemed a little chaotic with so many different people stopping to check on our needs every 2 to 3 minutes.
Before I left, I stopped to check the restroom. The men’s room was frigid and had an unsanitary smell. The women’s restroom door was propped open, which seemed a little unusual, but was probably done to get some warm air into the restroom. The dining room itself seemed clean
Overall, lunch at Café 26 was pretty ordinary with nothing standing out. Price for my meal was about $11.00 which seemed a little high for a family...
Read moreJust had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Will never go back & writing this to warn you not to waste your money here. There are lots of other good restaurants to patronize. First waited forever for a waitress. People came in & sat at a booth behind us. They had a different waitress & were waited on right away. Our poratoe soup was ice cold. Husband had to take to counter since waitress was nowhere to be seen. After some time we got microwaved soup. We just started eating our hot soup & our fish dinners came! Frozen mixed veggies were as cold as the soup. Told her. Nothing was done. Cole slaw is made with an entire bottle of mustard. Worst I've ever had in my life. At the end we asked if any adjustments would be made about the cold food & bad service. She took $4 off for the sodas. Big deal !!! Asked to talk to a manager. It was her which is scary because she obviously does not know how to handle a bad situation they created. As I said...we will never go back. You will recognize this place. It is the one that looks like a messy dirty dump on the...
Read moreWe went for it first time and the food was great, staff was very attentive and friendly. They have some unique items on the menu that were very good. Only 4 star because prices are much higher than other local breakfast places and portions are smaller. Our bill was 30 bucks and change when we are used to paying about half that at other local spots.
Edit: changed my review from 4 stars to 1 star based on the replies to all constructive criticism in reviews. This behavior is very unprofessional. I respected the place and accepted the high prices but this behavior from an owner is unacceptable. And to answer some questions, this was our entire order: Crepes (comes with 3) Side of bacon Carnivore Skillet Coffee Orange juice $30!!!
Downtown at our regular breakfast stop we get 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, hash browns, toast, piece of bacon and piece of sausage for $3.99. multiply that by 2 and add drinks and we are at about $10 for our breakfast. I know that's under the average price but at the same time shows that you are lying when you say $1 more than the local...
