Mae Velma's Corned Beef | Tripoli Park (Teutonia Ave) — Restaurant in Milwaukee

For some odd reason,the food there is not as good as the one in the little booth. Like it seems like they accomplish more out of that old coffee shop than the big building. And the little coffee shop is hit or miss now too,but I digress. The new location is new,clean and the guy I always see working there is really nice,though it seems forced,I don't know if he is an introvert that is living this experience in public,but I digress again. I ordered some shrimp and they were super greasy and salty on one occasion,so I have never ordered shrimp from there anymore,plus I had a bad experience with shrimp in the little booth(Though that shrimp was great,they shorted me,because I paid extra for extra shrimp). Then I say skip the games,this place is known for corned beef and that's what I will get from now on. Well,it lacks what brought me to them in the 1st place in that little booth. Something isn't exactly right with it. I've bought it several times,cause funny thing,it's better the next day out the refrigerator, I don't get it,but somehow it is,I buy it by the pound because it's a better deal,I got bread and cheese at home. I will continue to support them because they are Black owned and the food isn't horrible,it's just hit or miss,even after it just got done cooking. I will change my review after a few more visits if I get good food...

I went there 7.24.24 for the first time. The decor is nice and proffesionally done. Its set up nice inside and out and most important ITS CLEAN.

I ordered wings and fish. It was ready within 10 minutes and the food was GOOD..

NOTES: They had music streaming, good music. I shazamed a song or two while I waited. One song that played had very vulgar and very profane language and the volume level was a little loud.

When the food was ready she just sat it on the counter and went back in the kitchen. I though she was going back to the kitchen to get another bag. A fellow customer had to tell me that the bag on the counter was my order.

I shouted to the back "is this everything?" she replied "yes". but it turns out, they forgot my reuben rolls. Maybe she did say something and I didint hear, but more effort could have been made on her part to be sure that I knew.

I am going to go back today though. One, because the food was GOOD and Two to see what they do about my reuben rolls.

I went in today Combos corn beef usually the corned beef is good but today decor beef was chewy like rubber also they didn’t put my cheese on my corned beef so actually I bought two corned beef and I pay about $34. The only thing that was good was the orange soda I didn’t eat the chips. I couldn’t believe it. The corned beef was not all the way done and it’s never happened before cause like I said a corned beef usually would be good. I don’t know if the cook was having a bad day today or what and today is Monday April 28, 2024. If I didn’t live far, I would take this corned beef and get my money back. This is ridiculous.
