Their website promoted a free halftime buffet, however, it did not advise that the free buffet was not available during postseason Green Bay packer games! My guest and I originally stopped here after noting on their website that they offered a free halftime food buffet, as well as raffles and other giveaways. They also offered many drink specials during the games which were still offered in the postseason, during televised Green Bay Packer games. However, we learned after arriving that this is not the case for ANY postseason, or playoff games. In fact, after the regular sports season has ended, it's disappointing that; not only was the standard Free Half-time Food Buffet still being promoted on their website, while not offered when the local team was being broadcast... like during the regular season games. But, we were told prior to halftime that the kitchen would be closing in 20 minutes and we should hurry up if we wanted to get an order in as the kitchen closed prior to the end halftime of the local Wisconsin NFL Green Bay Packers playoffs. Despite them having a packed house, which made no sense to me from a business standpoint. Other than that we were rushed in placing our order for standard bar pub food, that would be fried or grilled foods, salads and soups, etc. Other than a few stand out items like the deep fried, wonton wrapped stuffed jalapenos 'Poppers'... Which were remarkable in the fact that they were not the standard frozen pub fair, pre-made precooked and simply warmed up in the deep fryer which can result in soggy peppers and a bland stuffing which cream cheese was not the main ingredient but one of the ingredients. Instead, we were surprised at a somewhat crispy bite, not too hot spice wise, and perfectly cooked! We also enjoyed an order of buffalo style chicken wings which are accompanied with a buffalo inspired suite. Honey dipping sauce homemade, infused with garlic which was fresh and very tasty! The remainder of the menu is what you would expect in a sports bar that serves food which they consider to be a convenience for the customers as opposed to many other sports bars which consider their food menu to be as important as a good sight line to ideally many televisions broadcasting not only the local team, but other teams that might be of interest to local clientele. Having said all that, anytime I go to a place I've never visited, I'll always ask one of the servers, "What are the things that your customers order most often? Or, what's something that customers have said they really enjoy that you could recommend." Additionally, a good indication in my view, is that it's impossible to have too many TV displays during any local sports broadcast if you're going to promote your establishment as a sports bar. You will not be disappointed in that respect. Many televisions displaying the game, all with good sight lines! As an explanation for their kitchen closing earlier than the end of the game, this restaurant is located within walking distance to the Milwaukee Brewers/ American Family Field. The business mainly caters to Milwaukee Brewers baseball fans. It should be noted that during the regular Green Bay Packers season, and I'm not sure, but I believe I was told, during the regular Milwaukee Brewers season, the bar does offer the free all you can eat - food buffet at halftime. While this business considers the GREEN BAY PACKERS NFL football season, and the Milwaukee Bucks basketball NBA season, both to be an off-season activity, that is not their mainstay. Overall, it was a good experience. I'm only giving four stars because they did fail to update their internet website which was still indicating the free halftime food buffet. Which was the reason we chose this business, for this...
Read moreWe were a group of 4 on an adventure in Milwaukee the day we came in. It had been a suggestion from a friend who swears by it when he goes there before Brewers games. I was actually pretty disappointed and probably wouldn’t go back if I return to the area. When we walked in it was completely empty and we were greeted by the bar tender who asked us to sit on the side with the bar and stated she hoped we wouldn’t mind if she just talked to us from there so she wouldn’t have to walk back and forth. I grabbed our drinks from her at the bar and brought them to our table and I got our checks and paid at the bar. Our food was slow to be brought out to us. One of us tried the fish and she said it tasted like soap so she didn’t finish it. My steak sandwich was so smothered in cheese sauce I couldn’t really taste anything else to say if it was good or bad. It left a lot to be desired. Positive notes: the option for a shuttle to the State Fair was nice(we didn’t use it), parking was easy and the Potato Pancakes were absolutely delicious (I had never had one before and this place set...
Read moreMy first time here since the business changed hands. This is the former Steve’s on Blue Mound (that I had been coming to before Brewer games for the last 20 years). The place generally looks the same, although maybe a little bit brighter. Our group came here before a Brewer day game, and it was packed! Ordered tenders and curd appetizers and then the brisket nachos for the group…they were a perfect choice! The brisket nachos were the favorite, an overloaded plate on nachos with perfectly cooked brisket and off the cob Mexican street corn. A must try. Great beer selection as well! They were busy on a very rainy day… but service was very fast. They offered a shuttle, which we took, down to the stadium. It dropped us off right in front and then picked us up right after the game and brought us back to the bar. It was great as it avoided all parking hassles. A very well run operation. I will definitely be stopping back here with the family to try their lunch menu (and a repeat of the nachos!) on a...
