One of the highlights of the Storyhill Firehouse is the bridal suite, which is simply amazing. It's the perfect place for the bride to get ready and relax before the big day. Additionally, the groom and his groomsmen can enjoy the cool and swanky guy room, which is complete with everything they could want. The vintage vibe, and recycled artwork and furniture is reminiscent of a 1920's firehouse. Amy, the venue coordinator, is an absolute delight to work with. Despite the fact that the wedding was planned from afar (with the bride living in Arizona and the mother of the bride living in Illinois), Amy did everything she could to make sure that all the planning and details were just perfect. From her first suggestion of their favorite flower expert, Impressions by Esther Flemming, (truly amazing) to the best BBQ from Bubbs BBQ, every detail was carefully considered. As soon as we saw the Story Hill Fire House, we knew it would be on our short list for wedding reception venues. As soon as we toured and met with Amy, the manager, we knew it was the one for us! As it turns out, we made a great decision – we’re still getting compliments on the venue four months later! Story Hill Fire House was very fairly priced, especially for a Friday night, and both Janelle and Amy, as well as their staff, were responsive, professional, and went above and beyond what was advertised. The space is warm and inviting and strikes the perfect balance between formal and relaxed. It’s beautiful enough that we didn’t need to spend an arm and a leg on flowers and decor, and the fun Milwaukee history was right up our alley as a couple! It is a little smaller than many local venues, but we liked it enough that we chose to do a cocktail style reception rather than a seated dinner just so we could fit 150 people in the space. We held our ceremony at our church, so we did not need this service, but we have no doubts that they would’ve pulled off a ceremony and “flipping” the space with no issues had we needed it. Additionally, we were a little worried about street parking, but it ended up being a complete non-issue.
