Thought this was going to be a good place to eat. Place was very busy which I thought was a good sign. Got a cheeseburger meal. Burger was dry and cheese wasn’t melted. Fries looked hand cut but were so gross. Extremely soggy, greasy and Luke warm to cold at best. Especially waiting 30 minutes as food seems cooked to order you would think things would be extremely hot. Blue plate was hamburger steak which was mediocre. Beans were bland and needed something. Mashed potatoes were instant or instant mixed and greens didn’t even touch. I did get a refund for my cheeseburger meal most of other meal left.. Staff was ok. The service was terrific - friendly, prompt, and they make you feel like family. Restaurant was clean, nicely lit and had a welcoming atmosphere with lots of home-style character. The lady behind the counter was well informed about the menu, eager to answer questions, and happy to let me customize my order. I've been fortunate enough to try a variety of food from this place now, and it's hard to pick a clear winner as it's all been delicious. This is without a doubt a great family owned restaurant. We are breakfast and my oh my it was some kind of good. My breakfast was the HANGRY MAN BREAKFAST. 2 marvelous buttered biscuits, 2 pan sausages, hash browns, 3 over medium eggs, and buttered grits with really good black coffee. I told the lady that served me and my wife, the next time someone says IHOP I'm hopping on over to JOHNSON'S CAFE. ONLY ABOUT 2 MILES OFF THE I-20.
