Yummy Sushi — Restaurant in Minden

Really tasty sushi and other dishes. I've tried quite a few of the rolls and each has been very flavorful, fresh, and enjoyable. Others in my family have gotten the fried rice and combimation rice dishes, which they enjoyed, but they didn't give rave reviews like they did for the sushi. The prices are not as low as mall/premade supermarket sushi, but it's also not mall sushi quality or taste. I typically spend $12 for a roll and avocado salad (see below). Everything appears to be made fresh and to order, but it's quick (about 10 mins). This place has never disappointed me. Just the concept of a drive in sushi place is very charming and fun--at least to me! Note that this is an old Sonic building so there is no indoor seating (unless you count your car).

The avocado salad is seriously tasty but quite salty so be prepared--it's mixed greens with avocado slices on top, all seasoned with what I assume is hoisin and soy sauce, it's sweet, salty, and yummy.

Update 12/12/19: I went back for the first time since it came under new ownership. The menu is the same and the sushi is still tasty. My roll was falling apart a bit but it was still delicious. The server was very fast and polite. We're so happy this business looks like it will continue...

I enjoy sushi, it's not something I eat often. But this place done an excellent job with what I ordered. Service was at my window before I even pushed the button lol. Very friendly, answered my questioned. Took less than 10 mins to get my food. Now to what I ordered: the shreveport roll(fried shrimp,avocado, crabmeat, spicy tuna). This was a large portion, very tasty and the meats blended superbly. Sauce wasnt to much, complimented everything well. Also ordered shrimp fried rice with all the veggies. Very large portion compared to some places. It looked more like true made rice instead of some places that look box bought and served. Full shrimp, sliced mushroom, onions, broccoli. It was very very good. Rice was moist and very delightful. I'm giving a 5 star, but will say it's a bit pricey. 24.50 for 2 items, even though they were very large and very good, is a little bit on the high side but still an amazing and fast friendly place....

"Its good for Minden" just resonates in my head. Don't get me wrong, the concept of getting sushi at a former sonic/bumpers is definitely unique on its own. You pull up in selected spots and await a staff member to approach you to place your order. Things are made fresh so do expect a wait. The poor server is literally running to keep up with everything. Lunch time gets busy so don't come in a hurry.

As far as the food, its consistent. I have tried them several times over many years and for the most part the same rolls arrive just the same. My issue is this, its OK, not bad just OK.

If you can get past the curb appeal, faded, wet menus with misspelled words and the different sushi experience, I would recommend it, however don't go expecting magic like its...
