Traveling to see family, we stayed in Sikeston Mo. During our visit we decided one of our meals would be at El Bracero. We are traveling with a small dog and luckily there was outside seating. We asked if we were able to have our leashed service dog with us. Without hesitation we were welcomed and were able to immediately be seated outside.
It took a bit of time to finally get someone to take our drink orders, but chips and salsa (and an order of queso) were on the table in moments. Our waiter was amazing. He was given a lot of tables to wait for, and being so many places are short staffed he profusely apologized for the wait we were having. We were not in any hurry and didn't mind the wait at all. But, that was in the beginning. After he apologized, his visits were much more soon and frequent. I guess being nice to him and telling him we were in no rush and to take his time made him pay more attention to us.
Drinks: Unfortunately they didn't have Rootbeer, but I was quite satisfied with drinking Mr. Pibb Xtra. Our drinks never ran out. Before they became fully empty our waiter was refilling them. This is the biggest thing to me. I drink, and I drink a LOT. So having drinks at all times makes me a very happy person.
Food: Both my other half and I decided on the Giant Burrito Ranchero. I got the Al Pastor as the meat fill and my other half decided on the Steak. When we got the food (which was pretty quick too) we didn't expect the portion size to be so huge. Big enough that both of us (and I'm a huge eater so this is rare) had food to take home. Both the burritos were fresh, hot and delicious. The insides included lettuce, tomato, beans, sour cream (through the whole burrito and not just a 'spot') and totally smothered with queso. It was very flavorful and well seasoned. It was amazing.
Service: We were constantly serviced and checked on by all staff if they though we needed anything. Everyone had a smile and were very courteous, friendly and professional.
Complaints: None. I couldn't fine a single thing to complain about. But then again, I guess that's because I'm quite a patient person and understand the realities of being short staffed and dealing with so many other issues during the 'covid' years.
All In All: Our visit at El Bracero was quite a pleasant visit and with the stress I was under (the reason for my family visit) I was able to just relax and kind of unwind without any worries. The staff made us feel so welcomed even with our pet dog Kosmo. If I'm ever in this area again, you can be sure that I'll...
Read moreWhen we drove up and parked, there was a giant pile of vomit where someone got sick right out the door. I told the hostess, and it was still there when we left. We were quickly seated and our drink orders taken. No one was particularly friendly when greeting us or taking our orders. When our food came out one of the young men delivering the food (had a patch of hair missing on the side of his head or a square shaved in.) called out the name of the dish he was delivering and one of the men in our party said he had a full order of that. What the employee called out was a half order, not a full order. The employee then said under his breath, hatefully, that is NOT what I asked. Most everyone on my side of the table heard what he said, and I responded to him that that was very rude. The food was good, but employees like this young man will ruin a business. The frozen margarita tower would not come out of the tap, and no one would help with it. So my son ended up taking the top off and pouring everyone's drinks for them. I believe this is the young man that was so rude in the picture. Faces of our party were taken out of pictures.
I have tried for days to call and speak with a manager about our experience. I get hung up on, I get a guy that tells me I can tell him and he will tell the manager and I just got off the phone with a man that seems to speak little to no English and could only tell me the manager...
Read moreIf I have a great visit to a restaurant I certainly tell. This was definitely NOT one. In fact it ranks as one of the worse for service and food is only slightly better.
The host sat the people that came in after me first. But he was courteous enough to seat me quickly, but at a dirty table. I took the menu and tried to find a clean table. Finally, after searching nearly a third of the section, I got a clean table.
The server was in attentive, but at least well mannered.
The worse part. Upon leaving I found the server near the cashier stand. I was curious as to why there was a charge of $1.25. Not a big deal but wanted to know. He stated it was for the cheese sauce I asked for. I told him that I was not informed of this at the time. A man I assume is either the manager or owner spoke up very rudely and confrontationally that the charge is on the menu. Again, to me it wasn't an issue but apparently this is how they deceptively slip in extra charges. The man said angrily that he wouldn't charge me and grabbed my money out of my hand. He all but told me to leave. Are they so desperate to make a dollar to lose potential customers? I do not understand the attitude. No worries. Not going to return anyway. Food was...
