Wouldn’t recommend. My partner and I were the only customers there for a good 10 minutes, and it still took about 25 minutes to get our food. While the employees were nice, I felt a bit uncomfortable reading the menu and having them stand there and watch me until I was ready to order. It made me feel kind of awkward/rushed. Once we finally got our food, I checked the bag before leaving and one of the items I ordered was missing. I asked the employees about it, and one of them answered very quickly said that they forgot to ring it up. I wish they would’ve told me instead of me having to find out myself. They rang up the item for me at the regular price, added it to my bag, and we left. While I don’t feel entitled to any free or reduced items, most cafes will give you some % off an item if they forgot it or if service was too long.
For $50 we got two 8oz drinks (so like about a metric cup), a quite small bagel sandwich, a pizza the size of my hand, and two pastries. The drinks were okay. I wish I read the reviews of this place, bc I wouldn’t have gotten the chai if I did. While the food was good, it was way too expensive for what you get, even considering that they’re a gluten free and vegan cafe who doesn’t do tips. There are plenty of great vegan places in the Cities that do the same thing where you get more food for what you pay for here. I felt kinda cheated, since I thought the entree items would be entree sized. A $15 pizza that’s about the size of a slice of bread and a half is not worth it, even if it’s vegan and...
Read moreWent there today, had a chai tea late, a pop tart, and the mushroom and grits. Tart was absolutely amazing, a part of me wished there was more jam, but you could taste how fresh the ingredients were. The chai was, honestly, not very good, tasted like skim oat milk with a hint of spice, I’m not sure if the barista just was unfamiliar on how to make it or if it was the recipe, but definitely there is some room for improvement there. The mushroom and grits was pretty good, the mushrooms and and the sauce was very good, the grits are more like a purée than a traditional creamy grits, but were also super good added a bit of a freshness to the dish. Just wish there was a touch more seasoning in the grits and perhaps either more grits or another ingredient component or two to make it feel more worth the $16. All and all, it was a pretty decent experience, they just opened up so understand not everything is 100% and might need to be tweaked a little. But absolutely love the concept and experience and everyone was super friendly. I write this review just for constructive criticism, hope you guys continue to do well, and I’ll be back soon to...
Read moreI was staying in downtown Minneapolis and ended up coming over to Hark for breakfast two days in a row. The egg & cheese bagel was fantastic - esp with added onions & peppers. I appreciate that the vegan cheddar cheese was nut-free (I believe the mozzarella is not). The latte was also very good.
I couldn't resist trying many of their desserts - the cinnamon pop tart, chocolate chip & s'mores cookie, and oatmeal vanilla cream sandwich. The chocolate chip cookie was insane, definitely my favorite. The oatmeal vanilla cream was also very good, but heavy. Like many vegan desserts, everything was very sweet (the salt on the chocolate chip cookie cut the sugar nicely though).
Overall though, very cute cafe! I ordered to-go both days, but lots of open tables that would be nice to work at.
I did order online the first morning and they forgot to add the cinnamon pop tart, which I didn't realize until I was home! Not a big deal - happy to support local vegan spots, but just check your order on...
