I love this place. My mom and I visited South Florida over the weekend and we were going to go to a Haitian restaurant that had been featured on the Food Network, however, while we were looking at reviews for restaurants we noticed the awesome reviews here and decided to go here instead. We we were not disappointed. The food was perfect. Tastes just like my mom's. 😉
If you've never had Haitian food and want to try it, I suggest coming here. They will give you a sample of the food to try, just ask.
I will say, as this is South Florida and this is a Haitian restaurant, there are alot of Haitians that come here (obviously) and it looks like a family business, which I love. However, I think you should label the food in the display counter to make it easier for us 1st generation Americans and regular Americans to order. On my 2nd visit, I pointed at something and the women said the creole word for okra and I [still] have no idea what the word for okra is. If my dad hadn't been there, it would have been a much longer ordering process. (I still love it 5 stars because no place is perfect and every business has ways to improve their process, but I would certainly be back and went twice over the weekend.)
You can get regular plates and sit down to eat or you can just get the food to-go. Just ask when you order as the default is to-go containers. I like getting to-go containers then staying to eat anyways because it's way too much food for me to eat in one sitting.
Both my mom and dad said the goat was just a bit too salty. (I didn't even notice.) We also had the conch and legume, which were both amazing. I also loved the goat.
Also realize, even if you get something that is already cooked in the display counter, they fry the plantains fresh so it'll be just a few minutes to...
Read moreI had the honors of visiting this little place on Friday. I just found out about it through searching the web for QUALITY Haitian cuisine in South Florida, saw great reviews and went straight down after work, tired and all. What other place do you see with 5 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD, so I had to check it out. Spoke to the owner and she said she just made her 1 year anniversary, and already has excellent consistent reviews! That is a w e s o m e!!! Places thats been open much longer dont even have that. The food, particularly the LEGUME, was ON POINT!!! Had a sweetness to it and she knew I was gon get hooked, thats why she suggested it lol! She gave me a GOOD portion for just $10.07. Presentation (diri blan, sospwa kongo, legume, and 2 crisp bunan pezes) was very professional, clean, and fresh, and made the dish more appealing. Pa gen oken gres sliding down from the legume which was highly appreciated! You could even see the two ladies in the back pouring vinegar on the meat, which added credibility cause I aint with that vyun sunti kree! Coming back for more. Go head ladies, yall...
Read moreAny time my family is in the South Florida area we always try to find a Haitian restaurant to get some good Creole cooking. Well this time we hit the jackpot! The food @La Belle Jacmelienne is cooked with love and you can taste it in every bite. The plaza that the restaurant is located in isn't the Ritz but the atmosphere is very welcoming from the smell of the food when you exit your car before entering the establishment to the green turf carefully placed in front. Once you step foot in the door the artwork on the walls are so vibrant and high quality that you will want to take the walls home with you. Haitian music plays softly in the background as the video for the song airs on the tv screen by the counter. The young ladies behind the counter go above and beyond to offer great service with a wonderful pleasant attitude and super spirit. The food is cooked to perfection as if someones' grandmother is in the kitchen throwing down. Everything we had was seasoned just right. The restaurant is all around "AWESOME" and we will definitely return anytime we are in the South...
