Czeckers Sports Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Mission Hill South Township

Girlfriend and I are from out of town. We visited this place and it was a pretty nasty experience. It’s located in a dank basement that just feels off, the restrooms were not kept up at all, we sat at a table with barstools and they were very wobbly. Took about 10 minutes for someone to ask us what we wanted to order even though it wasn’t busy.

I ordered the wings and my girlfriend ordered the chicken sandwich. As we waited for our food I looked at reviews on this place and there were so many negatives that it made me think twice. I saw a review saying the wings made someone sick so that made me a little nervous. We decided to eat our food anyway. I ate only half to just try and be safe in case, but my girlfriend ate all of her sandwich.

About an hour later we were at Walmart and I had to run to the bathroom and I didn’t feel well at all. We went back to our Airbnb and my girlfriend suddenly wasn’t feeling well either. We both spent quite some time in the bathroom with diarrhea.

The fact we both got sick is enough indication that this restaurant is not up to health standards. Between what happened to us and all these other reviews, this place should be avoided at...

Maybe more for ownership. But we came in over lunch during a soccer tournament. It was pretty obvious that there wasn't really enough staff to handle the demand. That's ok, it's about how you handle it. We fortunately got food quick and got seated relatively quickly. But there was a sign saying wait to be seated and saw several families and older folks come in that had to wait for a pretty significant amount of time. One family left, a second almost did, and the elderly folks finally got seated. I was watching and while people were waiting up there no staff even acknowledged them...two of whom walked by them several times. That is very poor customer service. Like... VERY POOR. Luckily someone came out of the kitchen (not sure if owner or not) but he acknowledged the elderly folks and seated them. Great job! Whoever owns this place though needs to tell employees they need to acknowledge and seat or work better at multi tasking to keep folks happy or staff appropriately for events in town. Walking down the stairs to get here right away you're taken to a semi classic zceck/sports atmosphere with a large hint of college. It's a local all is welcome atmosphere. If you're expecting good friendly fast service though this is not the place unless you are well known in town. Servers are rude, ignore you, act like you should beg them to do their job and management? Is scarse due to maybe being short staffed or the poor help they choose to hire. Some of the food I've tasted I would not recommend except the traditional wings. Hands down the best in town and sauces with prices are what should be this day in age. Be careful with dressing though. They will charge for each. If they added at least a bit of dressing and service was bellow low average this would get better stars. I would recommend take out only unless you are you, want to only get drunk and customer service...
