The Boat House - Yankton — Restaurant in Mission Hill South Township

Took my wife and a few friends here for her birthday and we had a good time! They several recreational attractions here including shuffle board, ski ball, a few arcade games, Yankton"s only snooker table, golf simulator, and of course the main attraction, "Axe Throwing!" Booking reservations was pretty simple through the website, requires small deposit, and check in was quick, easy and pretty much on time. You can just walk in but I would recommend reserving times for axes and golf because they do have live bands and other special events from time to time like the evening we were there. It is only a soda, water, beer and wine bar with a limited food menu so you may want to eat before coming however they are family friendly and kids are welcome so don't expect to get any mixers. For those who haven't thrown, sacred to throw, and or don't know how/don't think they can throw an axe and get it to stick, their super friendly and extremely helpful staff will walk you thru it and have you sticking the an axe in no time. Really like the set-up here, place looks nice, equipment, boards, scoring machines, bar, ect. are all in real nice shape (except snooker table) and modern not to mention that they have ongoing updates in progress! We live out of state but did axe throwing when we came back to Yankton to visit family in January. My husband, myself and my parents all threw axes. We also had our two young children (2 and 6 years old) with and they played with games and ate while we threw. This was not my first time axe throwing but was my first time at The Boat House. The Boat House has much shorter throwing lanes than the other place I’ve been to which threw me off for a couple of rounds. Nothing bad about it, just an observation. The other place I have been to also had an employee at each throwing lane that could help give pointers for those people struggling. They also kept track of everyone’s score. I liked that the Boat House has a computer system setup for the scoring and that you can pick from different targets. After axe throwing, we enjoyed some pizzas. It is fairly nice here with all the stuff to do. Darts, axe throwing, corn hole, bowling (but wasn't working) and I think pool table and a few other things. We just stopped to meet family there. We had some food which was definitely just bar food. All fried. No grilled or other items. This place would do good by expanding their menu. The service was good. Wasn't very busy.
