Royal Donuts and Burger — Restaurant in Mission Viejo

I have been on a kick to go out of my way to support small businesses. I’ve driven by Royal Donuts and Burger when I drive my teenage daughter to/fro work on the weekends, but have never stopped by. Today, I decided to take her and my two other kids there to lunch after I picked her up from work.

It was easy to find a parking spot. I noticed two other cars in their drive thru while we walked up to the store. We ordered the Royal Burger Special: 1/4 pound burger with all of the fixings (lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo or ketchup), french fries, a 16 oz drink and your choice of either a cake or glazed donut. You can also make it a cheeseburger or a double cheeseburger. I got mine with cheese, one kid got one with ketchup only, and another kid chose a double cheeseburger with Swiss cheese and mayo and ketchup only. I asked if they could grill the onions for my burger and they said yes. We were there later in the afternoon, so we chose 2 glazed donuts and 1 chocolate cake donut from what was available. We ordered two Cokes from the fountain dispenser, an iced coffee (for an up charge with the combo) and also grabbed two chocolate milks from the self serve beverage coolers.

We waited a short amount of time for our food. Maybe 5-10 minutes? It was really quick. And very delicious! The hamburgers are in sesame seed buns and remind you what a 1/4 pound burger should look like. The French fries were steak cut and perfectly salted and hot! For the price you pay, the combo was definitely worth it! The donuts were tasty, and a great dessert after the meal.

The donuts here are always great quality. I've tried many of their blended drinks, which are okay but the flavors taste artificial, which is expected. I have come here many times by now around the same morning times, and the main manager and one other person seem to always be here around that time. Even though I've come here repeatedly, while I've heard them be friendly to other people (like parents with their kids or older adults), I haven't gotten the same kind of friendliness from them. I haven't seem other people my age come here at the time I go here, but it looks as if they like to be more friendly to parents, older adults, and kids than they would generally be to teenagers and young adults. There was one time that a younger employee talked to me and was friendly, but I only talked to him the first time I came and I didn't recieve the sane kind of friendliness from other employees after. Today when I was seeing which donut to get when there was no one else in line, when I asked her a question after she had greeted me before, that lady there who was supposed to be handling the register at the time didn't respond to me and was putting donuts on the shelves. I called her again a couple of times but she decided to wipe the fridge door even though I was there waiting. When she finally helped me she remembered I had asked about donut holes and assumed that's what I wanted to order, and when she made my drink I was going to ask for no whipped cream but since she wasn't asking me she just msde it with whipped cream. There are other donut shops out there, but this one is the only one at a stop I have to wait at on the way to places, which is why I still come. AMAZING!!! Better than In and Out!!! I love this place! we go almost everyday after swim practice, and we always see a friendly face😇 It’s not just donuts and burgers(even though I highly highly recommend trying them) they have multiple different sandwiches that will rock your world! They also have a very long list of milk shakes that you can try some you may not even have known could be a shake like taro, passion fruit, watermelon etc. and some classics like coconut, mango, strawberry and so on! We look forward to trying a new one every day. The service is great and very fast. It’s not super expensive too! It’s a humble restaurant that as much as I’d love to keep it to myself, I want them to prosper and many customers so they can continue doing what they love! I remember the first time I went there I got the pistachio shake, THE MOMENT it hit my lips I started praying that woman that made it be very blessed and continue using the gift God gave her, it was that fire🔥 LOVE everything...
