Golden Dragon Chinese Kitchen — Restaurant in Mobile

Okay I'm gonna be honest. I did something with this place I never do, and that is I didn't check the Yelp before I ordered from here for the first time. So after eating their food when I went to pull up the Yelp I was SHOCKED that its rating is as low as it is. I honestly do not understand it. Every time my boyfriend and I order Chinese we order from here. They're delicious, very generous with portions, they deliver (and don't charge you an obscene delivery fee), they're always kind on the phone, honestly I have zero complaints. Reading over some of their past reviews, I don't know if management or owners changed at some point but based on what others said it is completely different know. My boyfriend is vegetarian and we love that they have options for him. His go to is General Tso's Bead Curd which comes with white rice and he also orders plan lo mien. It's a very generous portion which he an eat on for at least two, sometimes three meals. My favorites are the dinner combos of Sesame Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Sweet Sweet and Sour Chicken with pork fried rice (and some of my boyfriend lo mien) We've probably ordered here upwards of 20 times and only ONCE was there something wrong with our order. This particular time we order through Waitr (it was before we knew they did their own delivery which they don't charge you $5 for) and the owner called me and said the Waitr person left without my lo mien so to tell them to come back and get it after they got there. I am convinced she got me fresh noodles because when the Waitr person came back the second time those noodles were piping hot and fresh. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. They're really good, cheap, they deliver, they always give us extra duck sauce/soy sauce/fortune cookies/forks, they're time estimates are always accurate, and they're always nice...

Having only one visit, and trying only one entree ( Cashew Chicken), I don't know that the food rating deserves 5 stars. But my premonition is that the rest of the offerings at this (seemingly) typical are just as delicious. What I can be sure about is that the service is an absolute home-run. Efficient and helpful are the two best descriptives of the woman who took my order. At first glance, Golden Dragon looks like any other Chinese/American takeout joint. But the open galley kitchen provides built-in accountability for the customer. It also makes it plain to see that the owner/operators require a sense of urgency from themselves and everyone who works there. Oh...and the value for the customers. We were in Mobile from out of town. I don’t normally leave reviews but I had to give this restaurant a review after our experience. We wanted take out and needed a place with Tofu. We settled on this place. When we walked in we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and atmosphere. Yes the lady behind the counter was busy but told us to look at the menu and let her know when we are ready to order. She efficiently took our large order and wait time was minimal.
