Five Star Burger Modesto — Restaurant in Modesto

The food is good, but the staff is weird. My family decided to take me here in August of 2024, since I had just moved back to modesto. I was having a good experience, and the guy that served us SEEMED really nice and chill. He referred to me as "the short one," and asked if I was working. I said no, and that I had been looking, so he offered me an interview and asked for my number. Nice, right? Not exactly. It seemed as if he had some ulterior motives. First, he texted me creepily and asked me to guess who he was. I brushed it off as him being a friendly and playful manager, until fast forward a few days later he gets weird. He starts texting me as if I'm his friend, tells me that he wants to teach me how to drive, offers to take me shopping in TRACY, then calls me, asks if anybody is around (i said no, but I had him on speakerphone with my aunt in the room), and he asked if I had apple pay. I repeated, "Apple Pay?" and he freaked out telling me to be quiet, then hung up and sent me $20 because "he knows how girls are". Mind you, I was FRESHLY 18. Later on, I texted him stating that he was being unprofessional, that he had yet to update me on the status of be working, and that I no longer wanted to be in contact with him and no longer wanted the job. Next morning he asks if I want to go shopping in Tracy?? I...

I'll start with the menu, which is quite extensive. Of course, burgers, but different types with different toppings and chicken sandwiches, but the one I want to try are their Philly sandwiches. Their shakes are really good, not direct from a shake machine but hand-made.

First time ordering a cheese burger and fries combo. I upgraded from a drink to a shake. Everything is made to order and worth the wait. The fries are your basic crinkle cut fries, good but nothing special. Next time, I'll try the curly fries or onion rings.

Now to the burger. It was really good and juicy. A slice of red onion, lettuce, and tomato, with their special sauce. So good, you're going to want to keep the wrapper on.

I chose the Reeses shake. Their shakes are thick and yummy. It's topped off with whipped cream and a cherry.

Five Star is worth a try. Let me know what you thought of it.

The quality here is great for the price. BUT, they are NOT careful when you tell them you have an allergy.

Do make sure that you check the food before you leave in case you have any allergies because they are not careful about adding ingredients that you tell them you're allergic to. Unfortunately I did get a reaction where I had to use my EpiPen because I didn't check thoroughly enough that they didn't add mustard to my burger. And they definitely weren't organized when I tried to tell them about it and get a refund for the burger I couldn't eat. They wanted me to come in that day and talk to them about it but I had to tell them I was on the way to the hospital (because of the reaction) so I couldn't. It took three different phone calls to get them to understand what was going on. Hopefully after that experience they have improved with the ingredients situation, but I have not gone back because I don't want to chance it. But if you don't have any allergies it's a great...
