Frank's Shrimp & Chicken — Restaurant in Mokena

An absolute gem! We drove past and didn't think much but when we read the reviews we were intrigued. We placed an order and whoa! This is the best fried chicken we have had! We ordered fried chicken, shrimp, and hush puppies. The breading is perfection and they have many seafood options to purchase and cook for yourself. We are stoked that we found this place. It is now one of our staples!

☆ It has been about a year since my original review and I just wanted to update my review. This past weekend we ordered catering from here and I wanted to share my experience.

Food is always a huge part of our parties as we consider food to be a big part of the experience for a good event. We ordered the Deluxe Package 2 (one of many packages) which came with 50 pieces of Chicken, Mostaccioli, and our choice of Italian Beef (30 rolls included), and Mac Salad. You could do Italian sausage instead of beef and you could do Coleslaw instead of Mac Salad.

The food was incredible!! It was our first time trying the beef here and it did not disappoint in fact it surpassed our expectations and we were blown away at the flavor. Everybody at the party agreed that it was better than the "famous" beef places that are in the Chicagoland area (no shade to other places, just facts from my taste buds).

The chicken was perfectly done, it was mouthwatering and delicious! The Mac salad is one of my new favorite items.

Since my original review we have also tried some of the other menu items which included some of the fish, Bosco sticks, and the salads. I'm not sure if they make their croutons in house but they are phenomenal, like so good I just want to eat a bowl of them!! All of their sauces/dressings are packed with flavor and the perfect addition to already perfect food.

I had passed by their location on Wolf for years and finally decided to stop in since I was in the mood for fried chicken. The menu is basically almost anything fried.

Since I wanted to give it a good try, I ordered the 8pc chicken dinner, 1/2 lb of "chicago shrimp" (?) and a 5pc chicken tender meal. The menu is for regulars who know what everything is - otherwise definitely ask.

I like that they cook everything fresh to order and it made the 10 minute trip home and was still hot, even though they don't do a good job of wrapping their food.

The shrimp was very good, and they include a side of cocktail sauce (not mentioned on the menu).

My 24 year old daughter, who is a chicken tenders connoisseur, gave it a "meh" at best. The pieces were small and she said the side of ranch wasn't to her liking.

My wife and I were disappointed with the fried chicken. While the flavor of the outer crust wasn't bad, the quality of the chicken underneath wasn't very good. I was also disappointed that with an 8pc dinner that there were no legs, but 4 wings. Also, the coleslaw was grated way too fine. You almost needed a spoon to eat it since it slipped easily through the fork.

The pricing was reasonable.

My husband did a job next door at Tina’s nails, and Tina bought our family dinner from here tonight. Funny enough, my husband also did a job here at Franks, and always told me how clean it was inside and how he saw how hard the owner worked and always told me we should get it for dinner (I have a huge obsession with food safety so when my husband says something is up to par to me, he means it or he knows he’ll get more than an ear full from me!). For whatever reason, we haven’t had a chance to order it. Tonight was the first time we ate here and let me tell you, we will never get our chicken from anywhere else! My husband still had a job left before he was able to come home and even an hour later, this chicken was soooooo crispy on the outside and so juicy and tender on the inside. I cannot wait to go back and try different items on the menu and when we can actually eat it right away. Like Tina’s nails next door, Franks shrimp and chicken is what makes a community, a true community! If you haven’t tried Franks, do yourself a favor and go! You won’t be disappointed!
