Came in Thursday afternoon for a bite with friends to support a new local business. When entering the hostess had just walked away and I stood at the front for 7+ minutes as multiple employee walked past with no greeting. I decided to grab some menus and seat myself instead of continue to be ignored. Within the next half hour the place did get quite busy for a week day afternoon which is always awesome to see a community support a new local business. The inside is beautiful, decor gave off a beach front vibe. In the front for outdoor seating, tables looked like they were all only two seaters because the deck is small, hopefully out back they have more seating!
Service was mediocre. Our waitress was nice but never introduced herself and it’s always a huge pet peeve of mine when that happens. We were constantly flagging her down for forgetting to bring drinks, to take our order, etc. she also did not know the menu or what beers were on tap or what they were (I understand that it was only day 2 of being open - that will come with time). There one was lady who must have been a manager who was in all black running food from the kitchen who was the most passive aggressive and rude employee I’ve encountered in a while. She made it seem like such an inconvenience to ask her anything and it was VERY off putting.
The beer selection was small and nothing was listed on the menu for what they had in bottle or on draft. Cocktail selection was large and decent looking. The problem was the margarita flights… I DO NOT recommend this, the flavored margaritas are made with monin syrups and a frozen margarita from a machine which is not stated on the menu. All four tasted like you got a slushy from 7/11. They were disgusting.
Regarding food, everything was just OK besides the fried pickles and sausage and pepper platter. I highly recommend both. Hopefully in the coming months, presentation of food will be worked on. It always looks poor when plates come out messy & sauces are splattered everywhere on them. I would not recommend the cauliflower bites in any sauce. They were drenched and sitting in an oil soaked buffalo sauce. Another mistake was we had ordered both 10 inches pizzas and one came out a 17 inch, we informed that lovely manager who was so friendly and she goes “well the kitchen already made it so here ya go”…
I don’t think I will revisit this place anytime soon. Hopefully in the coming months of being open for some time things will fall into place and service and food quality...
Read moreNew place. I get it, teething problems and will certainly update review if they improve.
But just went here Friday evening, absolutely packed. Cant hear the person sitting next to you, never mind the waitress cant even hear your order. You have to point it out. They desperately need sound attenuation on the walls, hanging, ceiling. It was an echo chamber of everyone yelling at everyone.
Food, that was cooked properly, was delicious. I had the blackend grouper rueben and side salad (keto version) It was amazing and delicious, excellent fish take on a timless classic. Unfortunately, they tried twice to cook a basic salmon, both times very dry. Plus the sides where all wrong, most likely the waitress didnt hear the customizations to the orders.
Drinks were very good. Loved the flight of margaritas. They do need more drink selection options that offer keto friendly (no sugar).
Menu selection was pretty good for a new restaurant. Everyone chose different options. Smash burgers where smashingly great! Kids loved every option on the kids menu!
Too bad we had to ask for the rest of the kids items. They came out piece by piece as we shouted and pointed to the menus of the missing items.
They certainly have potential, if they can hold the price and make some upgrades and changes, this place will grow and be great. Restaurant selection in Mokena, especially historic downtown, is just above zero.
I left with a headache from yelling every single word to our group. Walking outside was a relief from the sound pressure. I want this place to succeed, I hope they do. If I see changes. ...
Read moreI tried The Dock and I had a great time! My husband and I did go at a busier time, around 5:45. There was a wait to be seated indoors which we expected but were able to get seated right away outdoors! For drinks, I got the Raspberry Limoncello Prosecco and it was amazing, even my husband likes it and he is a more of an Old Fashioned kind of guy. He got one as well and loved it. The drinks were large and well made. For food, I got the Blackened Grouper Rueben and it was incredible! Honestly, we were both interested in trying The Dock because they have grouper on the menu and we have only gotten to have good grouper in Florida. The Rueben was very filling, my husband had to have the second half for me! The fries were seasoned well, however, they are very soft and I prefer a crispy fry. My husband got the Blackened Grouper Entree and he said he liked it. He would have liked a larger portion but otherwise it was good. The server we had was lovely. She was really sweet and was trying really hard but it seemed like the tables numbering was off. When runners came out, they weren’t sure where the plates or drinks were going. I felt bad about that because I’m sure that isn’t easy to deal with but our server really took it in stride and didn’t seem flustered or upset despite what was happening. All in all, we had a great time! If I could give half stars, I would rate The Dock a 4.5 star! There’s a couple things to work out (crispier fries, table numbers) but they were minor details and will probably get ironed out as time goes on. We will...
