I was going to give 5 stars...HOWEVER I had a bad experience. I wanted to share with the owner in person but left before I could.
I was in on saturday march 22. While I was on my way back from getting to WiFi password I saw I was being photographed/recorded. I kindly asked the girl that she remove me before posting on social media. The undertone was clear "delete what you just took as I do not want to be recorded." Her response was weird and she did not delete. I then observed her, another young woman, and a man. The man turned out to be one of the owners. It looked like he knew them. I could hear them all talk about social media. He called them over to take a photo and record him doing something. Then saw home give them a hug before they left. I went from feeling uncomfortable to both uncomfortable and unsafe.
I reached out to my cousin does the social media for the coffee shop she works at. She was shocked the owners allow such behavior. She also said "one needs written consent from a person if they are doing anything (face, back of head, side profile, their belongings, etc). It always leads to a lawsuit otherwise." I asked about Google reviews and she said that with Google " a person can request it to be taken down but social media, very different." Clearly the owners don't respect the privacy of its patrons.
Word of mouth is always stronger than social media...I will be telling everyone I know that if they value their privacy, don't go here.
Also, odor on clothes when you leave...smoke (combo of weed, cigar, cigarette, cape, etc.)
Update: The reviews from Jordan and Taylor are from the two young women I mention in my post. Clearly a paid for or biased post. I make that comment because my mom was asked by one of her friends to do a review because they knee the owners and were asked to give one. Also it took my boyfriend and I until now just to get the smell out of our clothes. Even his dad, who lost his sense of smell, was able to detect something after the 3rd wash. That is...
Read moreFrom the outside this place looks huge, but once you get inside the seating areas are nothing like you would expect. There is absolutely no privacy. All long high top counter with high uncomfortable stools (no backs). Then they just have one long table that can seat several people but again no privacy There was some guy on the store that talked very loud and had to comment on every single thing he was thinking. Another review commented on how her clothes smell bad after she leaves and I couldn't agree more! I didn't notice it while I was there but after I left I could smell it all over my coat. I had to come home and wash it. I ordered a london fog after the girl at the counter told me they knew how to make it, but after 1 sip I realized there was no vanilla syrup I'm it. It was terrible. Not to mention the size was too small for the price. Costs more than Starbucks. The girl at the counter seemed overwhelmed and frustrated Took forever to get a bad tasting drink. I don't see what the locals see in this place. It definitely needs help to live up to it's...
Read moreDiscovering Clancy’s was truly a blessing. A friend recommended it one day, and I had no idea this gem across town even existed 🤯
I could write a very long review detailing numerous experiences, but for the sake of brevity, I’ll keep it tight for you.
The food is amazing. They claim the donuts are gluten free but my taste buds can’t comprehend such madness. So good 😋
The staff is so amazing. They are all friendly are caring (especially Ana!)
But for me, a coffee shop becomes a haven to return to based on its atmosphere. This place must truly be blessed because the people that come here each day are the reason I return.
Peaceful, kind, fulfilling conversations can be found wall to wall at Clancy’s. It’s truly a great place and I hope you can “stumble” into it like I did.
It’s located in downtown Mokena on the corner of Front Street and Wolf. If you come Monday- Sunday, I’ll likely...
