White Horse Inn — Restaurant in Moline

Anyone that have seen my past reviews know I am pretty positive and rate places probably better than I should, but I give every place a chance. I was very disappointed here! I usually am pretty low key and not very judgemental of any place until I settle in when I first walk in. But tonight was different. We met the bartender outside having a smoke and when we walked in we were discussing whether to sit at the bar or at a table. The place was empty but some smart a* at the bar (customer) decided to chime in to our private conversation and profanely state to sit at the bar which was what we did, not based on his comment but on our decision. I wrote it off but the person who I was with knew I was beyond peeved, knowing full well I wanted to engage the person, but also knew I was above that. Bartender did not seem interested we were there but did take our order and did cook up our meal. Upon getting served, we received no utensils nor napkins and she again adjorned to the outside to apparently smoke so we had to try to find bar napkins to have to wipe.our hands. I will say the food was good, but the atmosphere and help really stunk between the bartender and the a*hole that apperently thought he was host.

I used to be a regular and bartender at The Palace before the new owners and the owners of The White Horse used to come in and are very great people. I don't think they would expect this kind of service at their bar and I will give it another chance during the week. I have lived here for over 30 years and always wanted to stop by and tonight was the first time. I will not write it off knowing how the owners are because I know they would be embarrassed, but my experience was not good and I would not recommend to anyone based on my experience. This was my second time in the establishment but I thought this time I'd go ahead and write a blurb on my experience there. I didn't eat and only had a drink, I did engage in some conversation and partake in the gaming machines. It's a small neighborhood bar that has what you'd expect to see. The staff was friendly, the inside was clean, and despite its outward appearance, and needing some paint to refresh its appearance. Beauty is only skin deep.

The bartender was prompt, helpful and friendly . The patrons were appeared to be regulars and I base that on their conversation, and thier comfortable appearance in the bar. I have not been in during the evening hours either but instead both times been during daytime hours, but with its well established history in the area, and residential setting I'm assuming it does well with the neighborhood. They offer some surprising choices of food, and have an adequate selection of liquors, and seating. They also serve a great old school type of bloody Mary. I will visit again and hopefully it will be in the evening hours. They are open 7...

Was expecting more of a restaurant type environment that's on me, but it's a pretty good size bar. They have the weirdest deep fryer that's entirely enclosed and spits the cooked food out the side into a tray. The bartender was great and friendly, and despite burning my mouth a bit on the jalapeños poppers i could still tell the food was great, definitely on my list of places...
