I would like to start by saying this place has great potential. My family and I were really excited for a local breakfast place. Moncks Corner desperately needs a new one. I tried to list out my review in pros and cons below. Overall, not my favorite place, but I think Iād try it again after they work out some kinks. I really do wish these guys the best and hope they will be successful. I do genuinely mean the best with my feedback down below.
Pros The bagels were great (had the Asiago bagel with chive cream cheese). Absolutely loved it. Excited to potentially try another few from here. The way the building was remodeled is actually pretty neat. Just donāt expect to dine in, this is more of a to-go style concept. The back patio is very cozy. Loved the outdoor vibes. This could be challenging depending on the weather though. We had a couple minor mistakes with the coffee, but the staff was accommodating and fixed things for us in regards to this. This was much appreciated. The owner was kind when he spoke with us briefly outside. I shouldāve given him more feedback directly, but he was in a meeting and did not want to be rude.
Cons The front counter staff was apathetic and did not really seem to care about what they were doing. Did not greet us, ask us any questions, or anything. We had to say something to them first to order something. The breakfast burrito was overly greasy and flavorless. Chorizo is typically greasy, but this was a little overboard. I do think a salsa wouldāve paired nicely with this and added a lot to it. I asked what coffee they used out of curiosity, and I was told by the cashier/barista, āIām not allowed to say.ā Come on, this is childish. Coffee is coffee and the same beans can be purchased by multiple roasters, no matter what part of the country you are in. Be proud of what you use and give the roaster credit where itās due. I was mostly curious if they were supporting someone local as I like to buy coffee locally. With that being said, the coffee wasnāt that great to begin with. Overheard the owner speaking of buying Pillsbury dough from the Sysco rep he was meeting with⦠if youāre going to buy dough or pastries, source something locally or more artisanal than Pillsbury. After hearing this, Iām unsure of what they actually prepare and bake in house pastry-wise. Based off of this and whatever the mystery coffee roaster was, I donāt believe they are using high quality ingredients. Itās probably also something ordered through a major...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is definitely one of my new favorite breakfast places! Other reviews are right - there's no seating inside except for a handful of bar chairs (for people waiting for food/coffee), but they do have some outdoor seating. We tried the blueberry lemon poppyseed muffin (by far one of the best muffins I've ever had) and the custard clamshell (also delicious, 10/10 would get again), plus a couple of coffee drinks. Everything was delicious!
As other reviewers have said, the parking lot is small but you can park at the church next door without issue. The inside space is also small, so if there's a line you're going to be waiting outside. However, I liked everything so much I'm already planning on turning it into a normal Saturday morning ritual with my son!
Update over 1 year later: we now go here almost every week! We get coffee drinks and at least two bakery items, and it's always delicious. We sit outside - behind the building is a really nice covered seating area with greenspace for kids to run around in. They could do with a sign on the exit door saying additional seating in back with an arrow, but not having a sign also makes it so it's never busy back there! There is also indoor seating accessible from the back of the building as well (as well as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI eat here at least once a week and have never been disappointed. My go-to is a sausage, egg, and, cheese on an everything bagel. Hands down-- best breakfast sandwich in the area. All the muffins are literally to die for. You must try the peach, blueberry, or the cranberry orange. They are large muffins so you can grab a couple to sample the different flavors with friends, family, or coworkers. I will warn you that they are addicting and you may regret the offer to share. Edges are slightly crispy and the inside is so moist and pillowy soft, u won't be disappointed. Just make sure you come early because they do sell out of the popular flavors on busy mornings. They have online ordering so order ahead if you have your heart set on a flavor. Oh...and the coffee is even Delicious. What are you waiting on, go get a muffin before...
