1st thing I have to say is do NOT sleep on their firebird pancakes, I’m not even gluten free it just sounded good and they are FIRE. That will probably be my go to order from now on. Just like the best pancakes I’ve ever had in the area.
2nd part of my review is that I’m extremely disappointed in how they treat Uber eats orders. I always order through Uber eats and they never provide butter or syrup when I order French toast or pancakes. I’m paying MORE than if I ate there and I cannot get whipped butter and syrup? Also the food is way overpriced for the quality. Today (by mistake) I ordered the oven roasted home fries not realizing that it’s different from their home fries. And a majority of them were raw inside and it lacked flavor. So unless you’re on a strict diet get the regular home fries. They just didn’t put any description for either so I assumed they were both the same thing. I’ve tried most of the omlettes as well and I’m always underwhelmed.
Tried the Rueben last time it was the worst Reuben I’ve ever had. There was no flavor barely any Russian dressing. It literally had NO taste. I almost always have ab issue with something from my order here so it really makes me mad bc I’m always paying more than if I ate at the restaurant.
Today I ordered a French toast latte and large OJ I received a small OJ. And they NEVER give me whipped cream on my latte. Why?!? Make it an option to have with or without then so people can request it!
Lastly on a positive note the bacon and the maple bacon is fire whichever you’re in the mood for order it. Never disappoints.
But as a note to the restaurant for the prices y’all charge the quality needs to be better and consistent. It’s frustrating to always have something wrong with your order and YES I expect the same whipped butter y’all serve at the restaurant provided for my Uber eats order when I’m paying...

After my shift, Its always a between going straight to hiking, new place for breakfast, or both. Montclair delivered both—starting with a crisp November hike - New York Skyline - Yesszzz!, and ending at Toast Montclair, where breakfast dreams come true.
Walking into Toast felt like stepping into a warm hug. The space is so cozy it practically whispers, “Stay a while.” I kicked things off with a peppermint hot chocolate because November in Jersey demands it. Then came the real MVP: lemon poppy seed pancakes. These pancakes didn’t just show up—they showed out. Light, zesty, and paired with syrup so golden it might as well have been liquid gold. Add a side of turkey bacon, and I knew I’d found my new breakfast spot.
But let’s not forget my favorite:
Toast reminded me that healing isn’t just about yoga, meditation and such, —it’s about finding joy, even in the little things. I know how easy it is to get stuck in the work-care-repeat cycle. But this place? It’s a nudge to care for yourself, too. A reminder that you can heal by simply enjoying your surroundings.
Pro Tips:
Order the lemon poppy seed pancakes. They’ll brighten your day, no matter how long your shift was. Pair breakfast with adventure: Hit Hawk Watch for a quick climb before rewarding yourself with something sweet. Savor it all. Don’t rush. Take your time to enjoy the moment—you deserve it.
Here’s the truth: healing is variable. Sure, you could go home and crash—but why not take a moment to nurture yourself? For me, that looks like a warm breakfast, a hike, and a reminder to take up space and truly enjoy life.

Read moreOne of my top picks for breakfast in my area is always heading over to Toast. Very cozy atmosphere almost like your eating at your kitchen table with its layout being an old home. Staff is friendly and seating is usually right away as they have fast turnovers on tables. If you have a bigger party be ready to hang out before you get a table. They are usually always busy no matter what time on the weekends.
First time I tried Toast I got my traditional pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon - which for me is always a true test of a good breakfast spot! They definitely had me cleaning my plate. Pancakes were very good little heavy not as much on the fluffy side but so delisious you would try to finish them all. Hash browns had good flavor, small chunks is how they do their hash as aposed to shredded. Also had the Huevos Rancheros and this is another favorite meal of mine to get at Toast that I would recomend if your looking for savory rather than sweet. BUT If you only want sweet then go for their Red Velvelt pancakes with creamcheese butter/spread... they are pretty hard not to eat all three and then want three more... would say one of the best items on the menu as well!
Pricing is not too bad what you’d expect for a breakfast spot in Montclair NJ but its worth every penny for good food in my opinion. Overall Toast does a great job at breakfast and I would highly recommend if you are in the area or live in the area to make this one of your top visits every Sunday!
