Ravello Osteria — Restaurant in Monterey Park

How could I have lived only 8 minutes away and have never tried Ravello Osteria? I will never be the same again. My husband and I had a spur of the moment date night and decided to finally try this place out. We had heard they have a wood fire oven that makes amazing pizzas, so we had made it a point to visit. Well.... we were not disappointed!

We put our name down and waited maybe 20 minutes to be seated. While we waited, a group of 3 ahead of us told us how much they loved the food here and made some recommendations. The restaurant itself is small inside and very communal in its seating arrangements with long wooden tables and benches. The place itself can be found full of die-hard local fans who are on a first named basis with the waiters. How can you go wrong with a place that has returning loyalty?

We ordered the Penne Pasta with organic chicken and a traditional Neapolitan Pizza that was called the Amalfi, as well as a glass of white wine and beer. Our waiter Alfred was great. He also made recommendations and was welcoming when we told him we were first-timers.

The group of 3 ahead of us was kind enough to walk over delicious baked dough with pesto in it because "we had to try it!" They were not wrong. Their kindness was so heartwarming, and they were RIGHT!

Unfortunately, our pasta order had been forgotten, but we were so wrapped up in our pizza that we had lost track of time and weren't even sure if we had ordered it. Alfred checked for us, and there had been a slight mix-up, so our pasta never came out, but he spoke to the kitchen and made sure we got our pasta.

Honestly, they could do no wrong here. My husband and I were blown away by the kindness of everyone so much so we were not concerned with the delay at all. Que sera sera, right?

Our pasta dish eventually came out and was amazing! My husband had to stop me from eating it all...we had to bring some home for our daughter to try. We will definitely be coming back to try everything on the menu and joining the Locals Ravello...

I came on Sunday 6/18 for my anniversary with my wife. When we arrived at 7:40 pm we asked the hostes how long the wait was she told us 30 min. We proceeded to leave and return at that time she told us to return too. Upon returning they told us they had closed it was exactly 8:10pm when the hosts told us to return. On that day they closed at 9pm on google maps. She would then proceed to tell us it was closed she give us no option other than they were just closed. We both treid to talk to them but they were not hesitant to let us not dine in. We both left, my wife and i were so angry and the fact they made her cry on our anniversary made this even a much more horrible experience. We didnt do anything besides ask if we could get a table. Then i proceeded to call the resturant for a manger thursday at 12:45pm the man on the phone said there wasnt one, to stop calling, and to call back on the night shift he said very rudely he also kept hanging up on me when i tried to explain what happened. The service has been extremely horrible for me so a fair warning to anyone else they (dont care). I have gone many times for great occasions but now with this incident we will no longer support this resturant and its rude staff. This isnt the only time i have seen this. It has happen almost everytime we have gone. They have done this with other people with them even ording (to go or dining in). Be ready to be dissapointed when this...

I have been eating at this establishment for several years. Their Napolitano style pizza is quite good.

Today June 16 2021 I walked into the restaurant and waited a good 15 minutes before a droopy looking fellow walked over ever so slowly and with the customer services skills of a 5 year old told me I had to wait it to order. So wait I did 5, 10, 15 minutes as he went about picking up orders answering the phone and everything else that came his way.

Let me tell you I worked in the restaurant industry while in highschool and first year of college and I know it could be taxing, specially on a busy night and double that if your short handed.

In this case the restaurant was half empty and there seemed to be ample personnel to cover. This person just did 🚫 not want to be there working.

I finally walked out after waiting 25 minute wait and no one took my order.

As I walked out replied to this person " Thanks for the great service".

I have been trying to call and get this person on the line so I can get his name for the this write up and he has hung up on me 3 times and put me on hold twice.

If the owner only knew how negatively this on person is affecting...
